Why do people assume????? I'm just venting a little. But why do people always assume that just because I got a female Yorkie that I am going to breed her? Not only that but they are asking me if I want to breed her with their mixed somewhat and other dog. Uh..first off I got a female because I always wanted a girl. Not because I had intentions of becoming a breeder. Secondly I would only consider breeding her IF all situations was in right order. (If I really wanted to, health, size..etc.) I can understand somewhat if because they think she is cute. But I get so  when people ask me for a pup that isn't even thought of in my head. So on that note I am getting her fixed and NOT breeding her because she will be little and I don't want to risk her like that. Plus she's my little girl and will always be my little girl...and little girls do not have sex. ROFLMAO :D Thanks for listening! |
Try having a male AND a female! Never mind that mine are full brother and sister- people always assume that I breed yorkies. |
Oh dear, I was nearly as bad, I always assumed anyone with a male and female bred them, not only that, I didn't think it was a bad idea! Try to keep, you head, we're all ignorant about some things. I get a little disgusted with the people who are presented the facts, but refuse to listen, or say, "It's America, I can do what I want." |

You don't even have to own them, just have a pair near you. I have a male, and my friend has a female. When we would go out together, we would always be asked when they will be having puppies. Those people never liked to hear they are both already fixed. |

I got Tessie, my female, because I have a skin son and wanted a girl, and to buy pink. 6 weeks later I got my male Hobbes, so she would have a friend. I never ever thought about breeding. But everyone at work and other people wanted to know if they were going to have puppies, if so they wanted one. I have no clue what to do with a litter of puppies, I was afraid my baby Tessie would die, or the puppies. There was no way in this world MY grandpuppies would ever go live with strangers. So I had them spay/neutered. Now that I have Calvin and Sassy people think they are their puppies. Calvin, Hobbes and Sassy have the same parents, even I know enough not to breed them.:D |

i hear you! People always ask me the same thing when I am out with Dolce. They say "OMG when will she have puppies?? cuz I want one!" or something along those lines. I always tell them, "I am never letting anyone have anything that has her DNA in it! Dolce is mine...all mine!" Then they get scared of me and run off.....so much for having friends! |
I know what you are saying! As soon as I got home with Lucy - the neighbor was wanting to breed his yorkie with Lucy. AS IF! Then, one day I had to take her to the ER vet and he gave me this big lecture about breeding her. I had to tell him over and over that I was NEVER GOING TO BREED HER. I don't think he believed me. I guess he's seen and heard it all though and she had not yet been spayed. |

She is a doll.... hey even I want one like her.... so how about cloning her (JK). |
Even before I knew all of the mega risks with breeding I knew I wanted a pet & am not interested in breeding whatsoever. One time I was waiting in the car at a convenience store with Princess while my dd ran in. A lady came out & saw Princess. She came over to the window & asked how old she was (under a yr.) & said "oh, well I want to breed my chi with one of those" and I was like, "uhh, ok....I'm not breeding her". She sighed & got in her car. Seriously? She was disappointed? Seemed so. It was a convenience store, but I never thought they were meant to be that convenient! |

I'm always asked when I'm getting a girl so they can have the puppies. Either that or "when you get tired of him (Sparky) can I have him?" |

I was trying to be so polite and telling her "no, Ahi is going to be too small to breed" but it's like she didn't hear me. And she has a chihuahua mix. :confuse2: Quote:

I will never forget being at my SIL's house when her friend was there with a really unattractive little chihuahua (a breed that I normally adore). Her dog has a health issue that causes his ummm winkie to be exposed permanently as well as a number of other health issues. Her friend bugged me over and over to let her dog have a "little fun" with Chloe. Not only am I NEVER breeding her but certainly not with a dog that has health issues. I finally left. It amazes me that so many people fail to consider the health and well being of a female and only think about "hey free puppy" So yeah I agree it is really annoying. |
ooohh... i know that feeling... When i first got JoeJoe my friends spent a good portion of our lunch date trying to convince me not to neuter him since they wanted one of his babies. :/ They kept saying "Just one time, then get him fixed whenever you want." My poor baby doesn't need any other women in his life plus most people say it's so much healthier for them to get fixed earlier. As soon as he hits 6 months and the right weight I'll make sure that he'll be all mine  |

It's not just the girls though. When Ivan was a puppy, we had lots of people ask us when we were going to stud Ivan and to call them when there were puppies. |
they assume that because that is the only reason they would get a female. When people assume they are usually looking at it from their standpoint |
LOL wouldn't it be funny if we seen them with their little human DD when someone asked that and we could just tell them..."when are you going to breed your DD?" lmao :D |
People always look at me like I'm an idiot after I tell them that Khloe won't ever be bred and she is spayed. She wasn't bought to be bred (although I considered it, I wasn't willing to undergo the risks involved and plus, I'm truthfully not experienced enough to put her through that). She was bought as a pet, breeding the right way is expensive, and I too agree that little girls don't romance. And she will always be our little girl. I always tease with my hubby and tell him that it was a good decision because she is too much of a little baby to be a mama. :p Quote:

My Gizmo is almost 5 yrs old now and I still get people that say I have ruined him, or that I have turned him into a gay dog, and the one I hear most of all to this very day is this one...(brace yourself)..''Do You Know How much Money You Could Have Made Off Of That Dog.......Girl You Could Have Gotten $1000.00 A Puppy Easy'''' My Response is usually....oh well, I guess I just missed out...lol Cynthia |
This is the perfect place to vent. People just don't know any better. They probably would be shocked to know how much time, thought, love, money and education we have gladly devoted to our Yorkies. I had a real attitude adjustment myself when I attend a horse show. A friends daughter was competing in. There I was the ignorant one. I didn't understand how they judged, or even the basic difference between breeds. I am sure I ask some pretty dumb questions. I realized that day that most people just don't know very much about Yorkies. So they say or ask something that seems so silly to me. But now, I smile benignly and gently educate them if I can. |
