NOT looking forward to tomorrow Poppy gets spayed tomorrow!! I am soooo worried about her :( She weighs under 4lb, she is as tiny as can be and i am just so so so so so worried about her :( Has anyone had their baby spayed when they have been to tiny? She is running around all happy and she has no idea... i feel so crule! :( Ugh i dont really know what to do with myself i am just so so so worried sob sob!! Please can i have a little reasurance from u lot as i am worried i am gonna lose her!!! |
It is always harder on us them them when we have to get this done. All of mine were under 4 lbs when spayed. As long as you have the pre surgical blood work done she should be fine. I always ask my vet to call as soon as she is out of surgery so I can rest easier. I will say a prayer for Poppy to have a safe surgery and a speedy recovery. |
Sassy was 5 lbs when she got spayed and she did great. she came home the same day, she had very little pain and a little scar. she had inside stitches. Within a week she was back to being Sassy. I was the one that was so worried. |
She'll do fine! Make sure the bloodwork is fine, and I'm sure she'll come out of it wonderfully. Just remember, you're doing this for the better health of your baby. Imagine her little 4lb body trying to give birth to a litter. And that's the reality of it if you weren't a responsible pet owner. But you are one, and remember to tell you're self you're doing what's best for your baby and yourself. Good luck! We'll be thinking about you tomorrow! Licks and cuddles from Gizmo!:animal-pa |
Poppy will be fine. I'm saying a prayer for her quick recovery. Let us know how everything goes. Hugs to you both. |
My little gal was 3# 6oz and she did great but I sure was worried for her,but you will be so glad to have it behind you |
Sending prayers and hugs for Miss Poppy tomorrow! |
Good luck ! |
Sending light and love for poppy and Mom tomorrow. |
Poppy is going to do just fine. Hugs for her mommy. I'll be thinking about you both tomorrow. |
Best Wishes...it is always a worry..but if it is any comfort, the only Yorkie I have lost in surgery weighted 8 pounds...and that was before the new anesthethias... |
Aw thank you everyone!! I am so worried but i know i am doing it for her in the long run! She is getting her micro chip at the same time! Going to be such a long day tomorrow :( Let u all know how she gets on <3 xxx |
Lily was only 4lbs when she was spayed and got her chip at the same time as well. She did fine, my vet sent us home with pain meds which she took for the first three days. Poppy will do fine as well. Sending ((hugs)) |
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Poppy. I understand all of your fears about anesthesia but you are doing what's best for your little girl. Our Gracie was so tiny, and she had anesthesia at least once a year because she needed dentals often. I never got used to it, but my girls always did fine with anesthesia, even as they got much older. I hope tomorrow goes quickly for you and that Poppy recovers very quickly from her surgery. |
Just went through this myself. Mikki is 3 1/2 lb and I kept thinking she is so tiny. She was spayed and her dew claws removed. And she did fine! Within 24 hours she was back to herself! |
It IS going to be a long day tomorrow - until you get that phone call from the Vet's office saying 'every thing went well." You will breathe a sigh of relief and life will be easier. Then, she will come home and you will feel guilty ~ until a few days later when she is bouncing around like nothing ever happened. Prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery. |
Ask if some one can text you and let you know when your baby is out of surgery. Try some retail theropy while she is in surgery. Mina wore onesies for a few days after surgery instead of an ecollar, worked great. She is 4 1/2lbs and I purchased a package of Carters NB size. I will keep you and your baby in my thoughts tomarrow. |
I'm sure she will be fine:) Belle was just spayed yesterday, so I can understand how you feel. Good thoughts being sent to you and Poppy! |
My Khloe was 3.8 pounds when she was spayed and she did great. She was a little groggy the day of the surgery, but the next day... she was trying to run around like she always does. I had to keep her calm for the next couple days. I'm sure Poppy will do great! |
Just checking in to see if Poppy has had her spay yet? How is she doing? |
Thinking of you and Poppy today. :) |
hi everyone, Poppy is fine i dropped her off at 8:30am and the nurse took her from me... i felt stupid as i started to cry. I phoned the vets at 1pm and she was just coming round :( i went to pick her up at 4pm and the vet told me they had also pulled some baby teeth that was still there ....poor poppy has been through the mill. I paid extra to get the blood work done first as advised in this thread, i am glad i did. poppy is feeling so sorry for herself with her cone on her head :( she is crying randomly wich is worrying me but she is calm when i pick her up. The vet didnt give me any medication for her but said i could collect some tomorrow if i think she needs it. its breaking my heart to see her like this. :( xxxx |
Vet should of sent pain med home. Hope the night goes well. You might try putting a baby onesie on her instead of the cone, she would probably be more comfy. Mina weighs 4 1/2lbs and wears a 0-3months size onesie. You just sanp it and let her tail poke out between the snaps, unsnap it and roll it up so she can go potty. I think the closeness of the onesie helped to comfort Mina. She only fussed at me on the way home and stopped as soon as I put the onesie on her. If you have a family member or a friend close by,maybe they could pick a package up for you. |
Whats a baby onesie?? xxx |
how will she go toilet? she goes on puppy pads xxx |

Clothing, Toys, Electronics, Jewelry, Jaclyn Smith - Kmart.com I kept in on Scarlett and then would unsnap it when I took her to the potty pad. It worked very well for me. |
So glad to hear Poppy is home. She'll be fine and you'll be surprised how quickly she'll be back to herself again.:) |
I am glad Poppy is home. I agree those cones tend to stress them out. Onesies can be purchased at Walmart, Target any store that sells baby clothes. Also Mom To Hot Rod sells these great soft kisse collars. I have one on hand should I ever need it. Most vets give them an injection for pain before they leave that should last 24 hours. |
So glad that Poppy is home and is doing well. I would call the Vet tomorrow and get her some pain med's. She will be back to herself in no time at all. |
