I once was walking Fido, a woman stopped me and said ''AWW, he's so cute, is that a Japanese Chin ??''
My heart stopped for few beats :eek: He's not really like a japanese chin is he?

Also I was asked if he were a Miniature Schnauzer cause I had him in a haircut where he was all shaved all over and with beard, and also I've been asked if he's a Chihuahua or a Papillon ! I've got sooo many questions, also I've been asked if he was a mink dog (mix between poodle, dachshund and fox terrier), but the one with the Jap. chin is the funniest.

Has this ever happened to you? that some people think your yorkie is some dogbreed or a mix so different to the breed :p ?

I'm going to start telling people they're a great Dane just to see them look confused

I've heard Chi before but none of the others. I get the tea cup question alot because he's small.

I once convinced (rather easily in fact) a young man in Laredo that Tuffy is a minature Rottwieler. :D

I have been asked if they are rotties?? Hello??? Rotties are HUGE. Peanut and Tink wiegh 4 pounds!!!:confused::)

I wouldn't worry aobut it your Yorkie definitely looks like a Yorkie. I have been asked way stupider questions that what that person asked you, LOL.
Often people are not very knowledgable about dogs and often will show their ignorance whenever they open their mouths and say something. Scares the dickens out of me though when it is a Vet, LOL. Yes had that happen years ago.

I've been guilty of asking if a yorkie is a miniature schnauzer because they were cut like a schnauzer. So I guess I can't comment on this one. I'm one of "those people". How sad.

I tell people that Max is a German Shepherd, but with floppy ears:rolleyes:

I have a dog I got at the age of 1 year as a rehome that is supposed to be a parti colored Yorkie, that is what the AKC papers say anyway. However, he is a 13 lb teapot, very lean with long legs. His ears also didn't stand. He does have very silky hair, very pretty mostly metalic pearl and silver, like brushed stainless steel. But I keep it on the shorter side, kind of in a schnauzer cut. I'm always hearing that there must be "some Schnauzer in the woodpile." I can definitely see what they are saying, given his size and structure. However, I was given his original bill of sale, and everything I can find on the now-defunct kennel where he was bred only mentions that they had Yorkies and no other breed.

When I tell them he is a parti colored Yorkie, they look at me like I've got a third eyeball. I've just about given up and from now on I will probably just say he is either a terrier mix or that he is a "miniature long haired Dalmatian." He does have spots on his skin, so maybe I could have some fun and see what people's reaction would be with that! I didn't get him because he was a parti colored Yorkie, I got him because he needed a home and he was very close in size and age to my other teapot. He was up to date on shots, neutered, and was already grown so I could see he was a very good match for Jezebel. They've been so good for each other. I have no desire to have him genetically tested, because he fits in well here no matter what he is, it wouldn't change anything if I found out he was something else (and I only paid a rehome fee of $250). Since he was a year old, I knew and saw what I was getting when I took him in.

So I get asked what mine are all the time, even Jezebel because she is a 12 lb teapot and people have no idea that they can get that big.

That being said, Japanese Chin? No way I would ever mistake those two.

The ones that give me trouble: I have trouble telling the difference between a Manchester Toy Terrier and Mini Pinns. I also have trouble distinguishing between Brussels Griffon and Affenpinscher.

When Louie was a lil puppy my dh would tell people he is a gerbil shepard:D

I will say, there is a guy that breeds "miniature rottweilers" :thumbdown they're just mixes that have the same color patter as a rottie and he sells them for booko $$ like any other designer dog breeder.

OP...I think that person was really confused :p Japanese chins, while adorable, don't look like yorkies. Fido is ADORABLE btw, I love the cut!
