we are going to the beach for the first time We are headed to Destin FL with Sophie and Izzie for the first time!! We found a pet friendly condo and couldn't pass up the deal. Any suggestions as they have never seen sand or water but I just can NOT leave them at home so its our first official family vacation! Soo excited but wondering what to bring for them and what to expect. Any suggextions would be helpful. |
Make sure to bring them fresh water and maybe a little food. Treats are good to. Make sure to bring poop bags to pick up poop |
plenty of towels as your girls will need baths/showers if they go in the sea and on the sand. Make sure you take more than one harness, so you can change it after they have been in the sea. I always take my girls beds with us to make them feel at home at night time. :) |
My add to the other suggestions is to take a canopy or something that you can set up to provide them with plenty of shade. The sun at the beach can be brutal. Also the dry sand can get hot on their feet so be careful of their paws. Have fun! |
I live on the Gulf Coast, and over here, we're careful about jelly fish stings. They don't have to be alive to hurt, touch a dead one and your skin will be burning! Benadryl and distilled white vinegar are musts on any trip we take. Have fun!!!!! |

Shampoo and conditioner --- mine went crazy first trip to the beach...digging and playing in the sand. Was great fun - so I couldn't stop them from enjoying themselves --- but oh the sand embedded in their hair ;-( --- so baths as soon as we got back to where we were staying. Maybe a retractable leash...so they have some digging room but not so long that you can't snatch them back quickly...one of mine almost attacked a big dog on the beach - could have turned out badly. video of them digging --- they will nearly bury themselves!!! |
We had to get a life jacket- silky girl jumped off a boat into the ocean!!! |
