How big will he really get??? I bought my baby Tibbs at a pet shop in May. It was least to say a shady shop they offered to dock his tail right there....I was like that's ok... I took him to the vet the very next day got his shots and wormed because he tested positive . He was suppose to be born on the 7th of April making him 6 weeks old when I bought him. He weighed in at the vet at 1lb 4oz. I take him to the vet on a regular bases and he recently broke his leg trying to be super man and at 15 weeks he weighed in a 5lbs and 2 oz..... so I was wondering how big do you think he will be!:p |
Bless his heart, My Hobbes weighed 6lbs at 13 weeks and he is 2 now and weighs 16 lbs. It is very hard to tell, my other 3 weighed less than him at that age and they weigh, 12 lbs, 11 lbs and 6lbs. Glad to here he checked out good at the vet, |
Yeah he is a silly baby tried to fly off our cousins porch jumped from 14 feet. He's so luck it was only his little leg that got broke! He hates his cast however he tries to chew it off! |
My goodness bless his little heart. Looked in baby book Rubin 8 wks,2lb. 3 oz 12 wk, 4lb. 1 oz 1 year 6lb 2 oz 8 yrs 6lb 4 oz Gracie weighed 4lb 1 oz at 8 mos( Was a rescue) now 2yrs 4 lbs 13 oz |
Riley was about 4 pounds at 16-weeks.... He is about 8 pounds, now, at 1-year. Your baby is Adorable!! :) |
Thanks guy's! Yeah I was guessing anywhere between 7-11 lbs hoping lol! The pet store was sealing them as t-cups I knew better! I just wanted to get him out of there! And I don't want him to get too big but if he does it's just too bad we already love him !:p |
I call my 16 lb Hobbes my "Hunk of Love" but he is my sweetest of the 4. |
Do I understand you that the shop owner said they would dock his tail when you bought him if you wanted....if so, please report to animal control,,that is inhumane. |

Some of the most beautiful Yorkies I’ve seen are the biggest, and even at 10 pounds that’s a pretty small dog. I doubt if he will weigh over 10, and we have a "teapot" club you might be interested in joining. Hope his leg recovers soon. |

Carmel was 1.5 lbs at 8 weeks and now (2 years old) is 6 lbs. Emma was a little more than 2 lbs at 12 weeks and is now (almost 2 years old) 3.4 lbs. |
I did report the pet shop but where we live in a small community that is full of family business that are owned by people who are the family of our law enforcement not much has been done.:( |
Seeling such a young puppy is bad enough and then to know they would tail dock at that age is disgusting and inhumane. I am glad you told them no. It looks like your puppy is now at a really healthy weight . He may get to be anywhere around 7-10 pounds. It is hard to tell. |

Hard to say! That place sounds terrible. Jackson was 5lbs at 8 weeks old, 6lbs at 12 weeks old, 8.6lbs at 16/17 weeks old, 12lbs by 6 months and is now 16lbs at almost 3 years old. :) |
Thats a good idea! |
Is it even legal to sell a 6 week old puppy in KY? |
Yes people sell them even younger it's horrible our Animal Control needs a swift kick in my opinion. |
dont want to rain on anyones parade, because im happy that your puppy has found a good home...BUT........ i was watching a documental abou PUPPY MILLS. As most of us are aware they are they most humane, horrid and upsetting places for any animal involved. The PETSHOPS are part of this chain, and i would never ever buy a puppy from a petshop. These people get these dogs from these dreadful places and sell them in their shops even if they say they dont. THEY ARE LIEING........ The people that buy from petshops think they are doing the puppy a favour, and saving it, but all you are doing is creating a chain for the petshop. Once that puppy has been sold, they are already replacing it with another poor puppy from the PUPPYMILL. The best thing anyone can do is boycote the puppymills and petshops and buy from reputable breeders. I was so angry when i read your post, 1 that puppies are still sold in petshops, 2 the tail docking... Sorry for the rant, but this makes me so mad :mad::mad: |
I so totally agree! It makes me up set and its true they do have batches and batches of puppy's they seal not just Yorkie's but all kinds. But I had to save Tibbs I just fell in love with him and I do not regret it but I will also never do a pet shop buy! |
hello..My vet always told me ..by the time they are 10 months to a year they pretty well will stay around that weight. dont know if true or not but Rascal has stayed around 8 pds. for about 6 months now.. and he is 14 months old now...:) |
horrific conditions he came from.. made me sad to read, im glad he's outa there tho |
