private area question My babies were all groomed yesterday, including hygene cuts. My little girl, 3 lb. Tia, seems to be having problems. I'm not sure if the grommer cut too close or what, but she is constantly licking. She's licked so much, she is really red now. I've tried to discourage it, but with not much luck. I've got a call in to my vet now, but was hoping someone might have some advice. I don't think she's having trouble peeing, but I don't want it to come to that either. |
You can use any oinment for burns...I have used cortizone cream and baby powder. |
Poor little pumpkin! I know with my Cairn if she got cut a little too close, she would go personal groom crazy, or if the soap didn't all get washed off in that area. But for it to be red?? Poor little girl :( I would definately have the vet take a look at her. Especially if the groomer nicked it, you don't want an infection to form....We had a really bad stripping experience with my mom's cairn and she was actually bleeding and had really red hot spots that we ended up putting a little bactroban on some of the sores which relieved her from itching them. Granted, I wouldn't recommend putting it somewhere where she could lick like her privates. Keep us updated! |
Thanks for all the comments. I don't think she was nicked, just maybe cut too close. Any one have suggestions on what I might use for an e-collar? |
I bought one from Petsmart, |
Yes- I would put an ecollar on her- you should be able to find one at petco or petsmart- otherwise the vets usually rent them out. |
try a skin baby onesie. covers all the bits she wants to lick. usually a preemie/newborn size fits fairly well. you can leave the middle snap open for her tail, take it off for pottie time and then put it right back on. |
Is she spayed? Could she be in heat? They lick a lot when they are in heat. Otherwise, if just clipped close, but not nicked, I don't see why she would be licking a lot. Otherwise, getting a softee cone aka Kissee cone from Mom to Hot Rod isn't a bad idea to just have in your yorkie arsenal. We have one and they are a great alternative to those pathetic looking plastic cones. so much more comfy. |
