hospital bag! Coco is getting spayed on Tuesday. and she will be hospitalized for 3 days. (my request) So in preparation for Coco's hospital stay, I want her to feel comfortable and relaxed as possible. I never had a female dog nor a dog that had been hospitalized. I'm not sure what is appropriate and what needs to be brought to the hospital with her. This is what I'm thinking Her blankie a small soft stuffed teddy bear (her favourite) *I just gotta perform a minor surgery on her myself* Food and her bowl The funny thing is that I'm not nervous about the surgery. Despite Korean culture being new to having dogs as pets and neutering and spaying is not common, this hospital is a US Army certified hospital and caters to the foreign community in Seoul (its located in the foreign district). So they do a lot of spay and neutering surgeries. Also Coco feels very comfortable with this vet (she doesn't realize shes at the vet with him until she gets a needle :P) And this doctor despite his age in 3rd generation of vets. Actually his grandfather started the hospital and then his father is now the head doctor and him (koreans have this weird thing... they always must have head doctors known as won jang nim). So I'm definately not nervous about the surgery itself. BUt i'm nevous that she might get scared because she's at the hospital box room. I'm trying to pack her a hospital bag to make her feel at home. If I have forgotten anything, please let me know! |
I think that your list looks good for packing. I am curious as to why your baby will be staying 3 days? |
Gosh, why is she being hospitalized for 3 days after a spay? Here, dogs go home the same evening - for a neuter or spay, unless there are very bad complications. At your hosp, is it staffed 24 hours -- bc that'd be a major concern. I hope your baby does great, and please keep us posted :). |
I hope everything goes well. Unless you have other reasons for her staying 3 days they do really well at home even the night of the surgery. |

The reason why i requested 3 days hospitalization because even though its summer vacation i have to run summer camp from 9-12. I just don't want her to be alone even for 4 hrs and 30 mins (15 mins to walk to work and 15 mins to walk bk) during the first feww days with no supervision. I thought it might be better if she stayed at the hospital with 24 hr supervision until I am available for the weekend. If she was at home alone I think my mind would be worrying about coco instead of teaching children :P |
I am glad to see she will have 24 hr supervision. Please keep us posted on her. |

I'm just curious - why don't you schedule her spay for a Thursday or Friday so she doesn't have to stay away from home so long? Sending prayers and hugs for little Coco. :) Bonny |

i thought about schedulling it closer to the weekend but the thing is that once monday rolls around i gotta go back and lead camp.... i wasn't sure if that was enough time for her. |
Sending good thoughts and prayers that all is good with the spay. I hope you go visit/stay with her your not working hours, 3 days is a long time to be missing mommy and home. You know, the surroundings she is use to. Let us know how she is doing. |
I would be devastated if I had to leave my babies for 3 days, but I can understand that you can't be there and you don't want to worry about her. s there anyway you could bring her home after work and then drop her off in the morning to stay for the day? My prayers are with you that everything goes well. I am sure after the first day she will be missing her mommy. Keep us posted. |
I'd have a hard time leaving any of mine for that long too but I'm sure you know best. |
