Ring around the rosie....yorkie circling? What causes a yorkie to wander a room in circles? Samantha my big yorkie for the last 2 weeks goes around and around the pool table.... I am talking for 5 minutes at times????? all the while looking at me with strange expression on her face anyone else ever have a dog do this????? |
My Calvin does this when he wants to get my attention so he can go outside to potty. He keeps looking at me the entire time like Gee Mom can't you take a hint:D |
Mine only tend to walk in circles when they are looking for their place to potty. With these guys I put nothing past them - the things they do for an extra treat or to get my attention when I am trying to do something that does not include me. That being said, if this is something new and frequent, I would probably ask my vet (I am a worry wart and tend to over react when it comes to the babies). About 8 years ago, one of my Yorkies kept rubbing her ear on the carpet. She had a mild infection as a result of scratching a bug bite. |
Princess does this when she's really excited playing, esp. with the laser pointer. If I point it she'll chase it until she finds something she can put in her mouth, usually a toy. Then she ignores the laser & circles the L.R., D.R., hall & kitchen endlessly carrying it. She only stops if she hears me put it down. I have no idea what she's thinking, but I'd love to know! |
Sudden onset of strange or unusual behavior means that a vet check would be advisable.... |
Walking around a table over and over and just playing isn't a cause for concern. Ellie walks around the table and chairs when she is about to get her leash on. Circling in a distant sort of way, esp. for no reason and if they don't look "there" is an immediate medical concern. Does that make sense? |
Not to alarm but Paris is blind and he walks in circles to find out where he is. www.paristheblindwonderdog.blogspot.com |
What is weird is she is not playing around she does not have to go out just walking slowly around and around and around and around I was just hoping it is not a disorder or something????? she just has this weird almost confused look??????:confused::questione |
I agree with Ellie May. Check it out with your vet. |
I would have the vet check as well. But, could it be boredom??? I had a poodle that would do this. Drove me crazy. She was just bored. |
My other little girl Poppy starting going around the love seat and sleeping by it. Did not think anything about it until one day when I was cleaning and I moved the chair - well, she was so excited that I finally found her Booda Turtle. Did you put one of your babies favorite chewies or toys on the table. Not that you want to put her on the pool table, but maybe you could put her on the table and let her walk around. There may be something in her mind that is up there that she wants. I would have a good hold of her harness or such to make sure she does not fall off. Their little doggie brains are a challenge to figure out sometimes. Hope you figure it out. |
Could be an inner ear issue - did she have a bath recently before the circling? |

I would have her checked out, esp if she looks confused or even a little disoriented. Is she a senior dog who could be having some age-related confusion? If yes, there are meds that can help w/ this. BonBon is very familiar w/ this. |
Is there a specific time when she does this? Like after she eats? |
checked with vet.. he seems to think she is just trying to get my attention???? I did put her table andshe looked at my even stranger??????? Like ma are you crazy??? lol go figure I guess she just likes to freak me out!! lol |
