Do you have siblings? Yorkie siblings that is! The breeder of my Yorkie is going to have another litter this winter that are full siblings to my Jax. I've been looking for a second Yorkie and I'm thinking about getting one of these, because Jax has been so great. Does anyone here own Yorkies that are siblings to each other? Are their personalities similar, or just as different as non-related Yorkies would be? And do they get along with each other? Would you recommend getting a brother or sister? |
We have 2 brothers, both coming up on 8 months. They are pretty much the same. Smart, devious, playful, full of energy, everything that the Yorkie is. Naturally, 2 are a lot more work....both are in Obedience class and doing great, but they sure do keep us busy. |
3 of my Yorkies are siblings. They get along great. They all have different personalities and looks. But they are wonderful dogs with their own personality.I have 2 males and a female. My other female is not related but they love her also. I think it is a great idea. at least you already know the history of your puppies parents and breeder. |

i don't have siblings but! Shortly after I got Mickey, my nanny got casey from the same breeder. I think they shared the same father but different mothers and born 5 months apart. Anyways, Mickey is very calm while Casey is hyper active. Casey is also bigger than Mickey and they look completely different. Casey's ears are flopped and darker hair. But they got along great! |
I do- I got Chloe just about two years after Armani and they are full siblings from different litters. They are similar but also different, they have their own individual characteristics- they are both very sweet and friendly and have great personalities but they are also totally different. Armani is reserved, while Chloe is outgoing, Armani is social, Chloe likes to stick to those she knows, Armani is active and can go for hours, Chloe is happy to be a couch potato, Armani is super smart and eager to please, Chloe does things on her own time, if she chooses to. Physically they are very similar- obviously they look very different to me, but when people meet them they always ask how I tell them apart. |
I don't have Yorkie sibs (wish I did :D ), but I have a brother and sister Biewer duo, they are half sibs (same dam) and about 1.5 years apart. They are joined together at the hip, if you didn't know them and saw them out somewhere, you would swear someone superglued them together, lol! I LOVE how they interact with each other, they act a lot alike, very similar personalities and love each other tremendously. I would recommend getting the opposite sex, jmo |
I have Yorkie brothers, different litters, less than a year apart. They have different personalities and different looks (although neighbors can't tell the difference), but they also have a lot in common. I often wonder if they sense they are related. Max recognized his breeder when we picked up Teddy, so I think he understood that his new brother came from the same place. Although Max was instantly fascinated with Teddy and accepted him, we had some jealousy issues to work out over time. Now they share everything. :) |
