Doggie Car Seat I want to invest in a car seat for my little one since I plan on traveling alot since im moving out of town and away from my family. I've seen pictures of car seats that hook onto the passanger side and its like a box, and it's high up so they can see out of the window. Does anyone have any they recommend or know where I can get one? And can they attatch to the back seats too incase there is a passanger? |
1 Attachment(s) I personally don't care for the kind that hook over the headrest...they are too flimsy for my liking. ZoE has the Pet Gear booster. I can't turn off my passenger airbag, so I only use it in the back seat. It boosts her up so she can see out and it attaches to her harness so she stays in the seat. |
4 Attachment(s) I have two of |
So can they see out the window with those? Winnie will run around the car trying to look out but she's too short, its so hard to drive with her alone plus I know its not safe. |

I love the snoozer carseats and so does Callie, if the car door is open she will jump into the car and run to her carseat and jump in and sit down. I got Callies from gwlittle.com |
Please remember to check the weight limitations for your front passanger seat. Some wont turn the airbag on if there isn't enough weight sensed, come can be turned off with your key. Mine can not be turned off at all,the technology came out the next year,go fig. So Mina will be a backseat baby if she is in a car seat. Right now she has a Bergen tether but their smallest harness was still too big,she does also have a car harness. I found two different harness systems that seem to of done some crash testing. This is what I will be using for a little while and may get a carseat for the back later. |
I prefer the booster seat over the kind that hook over the headrests. We have a Snoozer booster seat. It buckles into the car, and the pup is harnessed into the seat. Elevated so they can see out the window, and super cozy so they can curl up and nap. We travel a lot, so Levi has become very accustomed to his car seat. I put it in my back passenger seat so he can easily look at me and supervise my driving. :) Here's a photo of my crazy man taking it easy in his seat: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...ctureid=108727 |
1 Attachment(s) Just got Gizmo his. It was onsale at Petsmart with my pets perk card. |
I was looking for another car seat with our new addition coming soon and decided on getting a medium sized Snoozer that will hold them both. Zoey has been riding in it and absolutely LOVES it. Plenty of room, more comfortable for her to relax (compared to the one we use to have that was more like a bucket), and she has a bird's eye view of everything. Highly recommend! |
I would always have a carseat formy babies in the backseat. Just like young children, they are not as safe in the front passenger seat as they are in the back. |
If you have airbags that turn off, is there any other reason why it is still safer in the backseat. Are the air bags the only thing to worry about if the dog is strapped in with a harness and the airbags are off? I have my dog's car seat in the back right now, but it seems to fit better in the front with the way the straps on it are. Plus, sometimes I feel like it gets hotter in the backseat and when we first get in the car the air conditioning doesn't cool it down as quickly as the front. So, I'd like to put him in the front, but, I want to do whatever is safest, of course. |
Hunny loved her Snoozer car seat, in the middle in the back safe and sound. |
