How often should we bathe them? Can we bathe our pups too much? I hear differant things from differant people. Lately I have been bathing Louie like every 4 days or so, but it seems like I have to because his coat looks horrible really soon after. He has really lost that beautiful shine that he used to have and the only time his hair looks nice is the day I wash him. I even switched shampoos to an oatmeal and tea type, but still no great shine. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks all. :aimeeyork |
I think you are bathing too often. I wouldnt do it anymore than once a week it drys out their skin and hair. I bathe mine every two weeks and both of them have a shiny coat. You might wanna get some Girzzly Adams Salmon oil to put in their food. It replenishes the oil in their coat. You get it at Dr Fosters and Smith. |
Yes you can! It's recommended that you only bathe your dog once a week. If you bathe them too often it can wash out their essential oils in their hair and cause it to loose it's luster and often times dry it out causing breakage. I would recommend only bathing them once a week and maybe (Because it sounds like your babies hair is a little dry. Not trying to be rude.) trying a dog bathe oil. to help moisten and restore the coats shine and help prevent future breakage and dryness. Also, I suggest using a moisturizing conditioner if you don't already. Best of Luck. :animal36 |

maisy gets a bath every friday, so once a week. it seems to work out pretty well. i dont know if thats too often or not enough though, its just when maisy gets one! |
I bathe Simon and Hallie every 2 weeks on Sunday! Hallie has really dry skin so I use special shampoo and conditioner on her and Simon just HATES baths. Every 2 weeks works well for us! |
My vet and most of the books I have say bathe no more than once a week. In the winter, because the air is dry and Edie spends all her time inside, we dgo 10 days or so. Bathing too often can exacerbate skin allergies, too, so be careful. |
I usually bathe Trixie only once a week. But she plays outside quite a bit and because of the rain and snow the last two weeks there's sooooo much dirt around the house and she gets dirty every time she goes outside. Is there a way of cleaning her without bathing??? |
