Help about in heat.... My girl Jada will be 7 months on July 6th. I was wondering if she is suppose to start her heat cycle already or is it too soon? I researched it and they said her vulva will swell up, but the thing is I wouldn't even know if it's swollen or not! I'm really worried I won't know that she's in heat. I want to take care of her as best as possible when she is in heat. Also I have noticed she's starting to have little nipples. I don't know anything bc she is my first. Can you guys please help me on this??? Thanks! |
I read that yorkies go into heat anywhere from 6 months to just over a year of age. My ZoE will be 7 months old on July9. She was spayed yesterday. |
You will know when she is swollen, trust me. |
If she is old enough to go into heat she is probably old enough to be spayed. Are you waiting for a reason? |
When Poppy came into heat the first thing I noticed was her nipples swollen first, then a week later her vulva looked bigger then usual, then the bleed. She is old enough to come into her first heat so she could well be in heat, Poppy was 9 months old but some can come into heat as young as 6 months. |
Sassy was 6 months old and I didn't expect it, saw the little bit of blood on my pants leg first, it was a nightmare. I have 2 males also and thank goodness they are neutered. But they still wanted to strut their stuff for her, had to keep her confined a lot. After her heat cycle I had to wait another month before I could have her spayed so all the swelling inside had gone down. My other female was spayed at 9 months and never went into heat before we had her spayed. |
Princess was about 7 months when she came into heat. She actually spotted on something when we were playing so I looked. She was very swollen, you will notice I'm sure, it is distinctly different. After the discovery I noticed her licking/cleaning herself all of the time. She could barely walk a few feet without stopping. She also just did not act like herself. She's spayed now & I'm so thankful I don't have to stress over that or the possibility of her getting pregnant, among other "pluses". |
