update on bailey..colitus..please pray for her okay...well she still had the runny diarreah this morning and last night, i was soo upset and worried so i had to go up to the school where im doing my intern to tell them i couldnt come in today and as i was telling them, se started gagging, and threw up bile...we went straight to the vet and he told me it was colitus, there was blood in her stool also :( which i guess is normal with colitus, he took a stool sample, then gave her a shot of medicine to help the diarreah and vomitting, along with oral medicine that i have to give her twice a day. he said that she should not vomit anymore, if she does i must get her to the vet asap. he said that with the meds, the diarreah should stop within a day or two. so im glad i took her, i had to clean up all the mess at my apt, when doing so i saw the blood in it. im so sad that shes going through this...i felt like a big baby bc i was crying bc im so worried about my precious angel. since weve been home she did try to poop and it was a coyple drops of blood...which hurts me to see coming out of her :( the vet told me this is very common in these little dogs, he said that he had one right now in the back that had it really bad and was on fluids back there. so what does ahyone know about this? this is my first time hearing about it, they said it was probably from the soft food i gave her a couple days ago with her heartworm and flea meds. i am praying this just gets better on its own, please keep bailey in your thoughts..shes my best friend, its always just me and her...i will die if anything happens :( |
I've experienced just as you've described with my little girls. The important thing is that you took your baby to the vet, and you know she's not dehydrated. With the medication and letting her stomach settle down, she should be fine. If it's a small amount of blood, it's because there is irritation there. Just do as her doctor says, and Bailey should be better very soon. Usually with my little ones, the doctor had me hold off on food or water for several hours until their stomachs settled down. Once I started them back on food, they had a bland diet for a few days (chicken with rice). At this point, Bailey shouldn't have any problem with dehydration since she was seen by the vet and he would have given her fluids if necessary. You can check for it by seeing if her gums feel tacky or seeing if the skin on the back of her neck bounces back when you pull it. If the vomiting starts again, take her back in, but the medication should help settle everything down for her. I'll be praying for both you and Bailey for her to get well. I understand why you love Bailey so much. |
I hope Bailey feels better soon. |

thank you all for the kind words, i dont wana get ahead of myself just yet, but it seems like the meds are working already! shes only pooped twice since we left the vet this morning, compared to doing it like 4-5 times an hour..her first BM was really bloody, :( but she just now went again, and i must say...after searching in the grass for it lol, it looked alot more solid than it has looked all day' and i couldnt see any blood, but im sure there was at least a little bit..but i just now gave her her second dose of her oral meds, so i am thankful but still praying that it gets better and better....we are headed to "grandma"'s tomo for the wknd...so i really hope shes doing alot better for her fun wknd playing with her poodle friends! thank you so much for prayers! and susan, im soo happy she got to stay with me too...thank u for even renembering that...so sweet...i feel like i have friends on here who care ab me AND my furbaby! :) |
