White on chest at 11 months? Chloes chest/front of neck gets lighter and lighter. I used to think it was sorta blond but now Ive decided its completely white. She is turning silver on her back and her face has lightened up quite a bit. Is white on thier chest at 11 months normal? I think its beautiful but I just wasnt excpecting it(i knew her face would lighten up and her back would turn silver) |
I would have to see a pic to really determine if the area is truly white or the very light silver/blue that many of the lighter colored babies show..Many Yorkies have some white when they are younger and it usually is in the areas that are tan or gold and the coat all looks the same.. You will love her to pieces anyway, huh?? |
I've heard of the white spots, but it should blend in as the yorkie changes color.... they can do that up to three years (i think, is this correct? anyone?) my toby had the "normal" black and tan marking when he was a pup, but now the top of his head looks completely white in the sunlight (i have to admit, i love the way his coat looks int eh sunlight.....lol..... ) |

Id love her to pieces if she were green :p . I am just not very knowledgeable with yorkie coloring. I do know that her coloration(iwas told she is a blue/gold) tends to turn silver on the back but I had no idea about the chest. I was just wondering if that was normal or if it had a different name for that coloration of coat or if it was just unique. Heres a picture taken yesterday: |

If you look up the history of Yorkshire Terriers, they are made up of several breeds in Scotland. One of those breeds is the Maltese, and ever so often the gene will be more definite. As time goes on and her coat gets longer, it will blend in. So yes it is normal. |
I think she is beautiful, the white spot on her is a pretty white... |
Chloe is gorgeous either way! |
When I got her at 3 monthes she was black as can be so I am just surprised it got that light. I love it too :p |
Sammi has the same coloring on her chest... 4 Attachment(s) When I got her she was black also...Then I was told she was blue/gold in her adult coat... :) Either way Chloe is adorable :) |
I don't know much either but shes sooo beautiful! |
2 Attachment(s) She has similar coloring as Bailey and Charlie! I think she is gorgeous!!! Their backs also at the roots are turning silverish but still have lots of black puppy hair at eight months because I don't want to cut it off :) |
I have heard that you really don't what color your yorkie will be untill they are 3 years old, but eather way color is not an issue if there is love at home |
I think that these babies have very light coats and what appears to be white might be the very lightest blue (silver). Yorkie Rose had a female that would almost look white ALL OVER especially after she was bred. She is one of the finest Yorkies I have ever seen, but was just very light. Her puppies were beautiful and dark! One of my boys was bred to a very blonde female and those puppies all were typical standard colors of gold/tan and blue. It's true that it is accepted that Maltese were used to thicken the coat of these younguns. They needed heavier coats because of their original purpose of going into holes to get varmints. Also, there was a terrier known as a Paisley which was black and white marked. These breeds are listed in some books and not in others but it is evident that somewhere way back, there were some white genes. Your babies are gorgeous no matter the color. Some of us hoomans would celebrate if we had natural coloring like that in our hair.. |
Dollar had a patch of white on his chest too! he is 4 months |

Tori also, has white on top of her head, and 5 months old today. I also, read if there is a white patch on the chest it indicates that the dog will have a good coat when grown. The article is on this site. I beleive it's under coat coloring. You, have a beautiful baby no matter what color the coat changes too. Barbg |
