Is Emma a "red legged yorkie"?? 2 Attachment(s) I just heard this term in another thread. I looked it up and thought Emma was a red legged until I read the part about coarse hair...Emma's has a silky coat and her hair is very soft. However, her hair doesn't grow fast. She also doesn't really have hair in her ears...I've always thought it was a great thing though, less maintenance. lol She's also not red...Here's a picture of her. Please tell me what you think. Thanks in advance! |
No I don't think so :) |
I don't think so either. By the way, Emma is super cute. :) |
Thanks for the speedy response!! I really appreciate it! Now I'm wondering why her hair grows so slowly and is pretty thin... I just want to make sure I feed her supplements if any are needed. Right now, I feed her salmon and glycosamine oil. We are feeding Merrick's chicken pot pie. However, we mix in samples from brands like Fromm, Evo, Taste of the Wild, etc. They won't eat unless there's a variety...I made my mistake of spoiling them at a young age. *slaps palm into face* Is there anything else that I should be feeding her to help her hair growth? I also started using coconut oil on her coat as well... |
Neither of mine had course hair and both red legged, had less fur on ears and feet, she looks like it to me, but that is just my opinion, my fife had the best silky hair ever, he had such pretty hair but grew slow none in his ears or on ears and he needed was less upkeep than my non red legged |
She's so cute! :) |
Thanks Tammy!! Your babies are cute too! My upcoming baby will be a biewer! I'm so excited! :D |

It doesn't look like she is a red legged yorkie. Her hair looks much silkier and longer than the red legs that I have seen. She's adorable! |
4 Attachment(s) Yours looks so darling - But I, too, have the same question regarding one of mine. I'm posting some pictures (she's 10 months old) These were taken about 6 weeks ago. Though I shave her ears (just because I shaved all my dogs ears because I like them short there), after reading this I'd have to say her ear hair probably doesn't grow that fast. the legs...ankle area/feet have very short hair. Very dark saddle...hair very silky feeling, but thick in quantity and slow growing. About a 2" skirt at this age Her parents are both the "normal" yorkies/long silky hair/standard coloring, etc what does everyone think about mine? Does anyone have enough information about red legged yorkies to render an opinion? |

Here's some pictures of Emma when she was younger. The first one is when she was 5 months and the other two are when she was 8 months. Wow, didn't know it'd be this hard finding a good picture of her...she was more wiggly when she was a pup. lol  Hope this helps! |

Though their coloring is much different, that last picture they sure look alike in the nose. Ours is very red in color - much brighter than the picture shows. thanks for responding - I appreciate it. I kinda doubt mine is a "true" red legged Yorkie, rather just a slow growing coat...I'm sure by the time she's an adult her hair will be long and gorgeous as it is growing, just a little slower than the others. Both her parents' hair is very nice. I was told she looks like her maternal grandsire, -->Our dalmation was named Emma. Love that name. Your little Emma looks like such a little sweetheart. |
