boy or girl? gosh finding the perfect baby has been hard. i never thought it would be this hard. but all great things are worth the weight but i do have a question every breeder i have talked to always ask "why a girl and not a boy? u do know a boy is better?" i suppose some people perfer boys but my dream dog is a female yorkie. i want to do the whole hair bows dress up and sew dresses and when i tell breeders the truth i get a whole new speech on how u can give boys bow and so on dont get me wrong boys r so fun and cute too but like i said i want a girl am i missing something??? |
If you have your heart set on a girl then that's what you should do. My boy is very loving but my girls are loving too. The girls will come and sit on my lap and give me love and affection but when they want to. My boy is the only one who you can pick up and hold him like a baby or carry him around and he is just content to be with you. And it's not like the girls aren't but you can only carry them like babies when they are in the "mood". But I love all of mine and I see positives to each but more than that, each individual puppy has a special personality. They are all different. I certainly wouldn't pick a female who was extremely hyper or who was not happy to be with you or who had some other issue. But it is nice to dress up the girls..... Good luck with your search! |
thank you. i have my heart set on a girl but all i am getting is bad looks on female yorkies. they have attidude and so on.but like u have said all of them have a their own personality. hope all falls into place! thanks so much!! |
I have a 9-month female and she is the most affectionate, sweetest, cutest little dog ever. She does let me know if she's annoyed with a "Phhhhtt" sound...which is just cute! And is she's sound asleep she usually doesn't like to be moved. But she lets me carry her anytime, is always on me if we're sitting down, cuddles, plays beautifully with my two other female dogs and one male. Lets me do her hair, dress her. She loves to play fetch, is a natural walker on a leash. Bonus: You can pet their tummies without "interference"! Good luck with your decision and your new puppy! |

I wouldn't change having him for anything. He is the sweetest most lovable dog in the world. I can't imagine any other dog being as he is. But I'm biased. haha |
Love having my girl. Your heart is telling you to get a girl. Go for it! Girls are sweet too. Yes, a little attitude every once in a while but well worth it!! ;) |
thanks everyone i just felt like i was missing something between a boy or girl. or i was choosing the wrong gender of dog to adopt. i think i will be going with my heart and getting a girl like i have always wanted! thanks so much! ha my momo is such a little weirdo when it comes to rubbing his tummy i think hes the first dog i know ever to not want his tummy rubbed lol its like he knows his privates are not public lol |
I think we each have our own preference on which sex we want...nothing wrong with that ;). So, if you want a girl....get a girl. I knew I really wanted girl and it wasn't even a consideration for me. That's just me...nothing wrong with that. LOL. Zhoie is an independent girl at times, don't get me wrong...I LOVE that about her. As a youger pup, she wasn't as snuggly with me, mostly when she wanted to and always snuggled up to me in bed. But around 1 or so, that all started to change, she is now a total mommy's girl. She loves daddy to, but she will take mommy anytime mommy sits down :D Good luck...the choice is totally yours. We'll be looking for pictures of your future baby :) |
Perrella, love the avatar picture. aliciagee, glad to hear you are going with your heart! :) Look forward to seeing the new little girl addition. |
Exactly^^.... I love boy dogs. I just tend to connect better with them. I'll probably always have boys. It's just a personal preference. If your heart is set on a girl, get a girl! |
Both are great - just depends on your personnel preference. One breeder I met told me boys were better - but she had more boys than girls in her litter. The breeder I got Abby and Max from asked me general questions, but did not try to convince me to get one gender over the other. Max is my first boy dog ever and he is great. |
Thanks again I don't see why breeders would try and convince me to get a boy once a breeder does that I I don't want a puppy for them anymore tgr breeder should be trying to fulfil the adoptees wish not convince them one gender is better turn the other |
i love boy dogs. almost all my dogs have been boys :) but i think u should get the dog you want. you want a girl, you should get one. my little baby is a boy, and thats what i wanted, and i couldnt be happier. i love him, i love all the silly boy games we get to play, even tho i have a little yorkie, im a big dog kinda girl, but yorkies have this big dog mentality, so i knew i wanted a boy! But you want to do the whole long hair, bows and dresses thing, which is totally cute too. I think you should get a girl. You are spending all this time finding the perfect breeder and dog, you should get all you hoped for when you finnally get your baby.. |
Get one of each :D (But get them spayed and neutered!) |
I was wondering the same thing. I've always wanted a girl, and it has never changed. But sometimes I'll tel my family or friends about how I want a Yorkie and they'll always ask why not a boy. It's just that once I first fell in love with yorkies it was all about getting a girl and getting a boy never really crossed my mind. Get what you want, either way you'll love em' to death:D |
