Spitting kibbles out to look for the "good" pieces Do your kiddos do this? She likes to take a mouthful and spit it out to the side of her dish to pick through and find the perfect piece to eat. Makes a mess for her mama to clean up AND slobbers on them all, so sometimes I just throw 'em away if they're too gross to put back in the dish. She is a messy, slobbery, money-waster (but for some reason, I love her to bits). |
I feed Life's Abundance so its all the same pieces but I have one that takes huge mouthfulls and runs to my bed and drops them there and then eats them in my bed LOL :p |
... which is why I never had any success doing a slow transition to a different kind of kibble (with any dog I've ever owned). What a mess! Luckily, they've all seemed to have iron stomachs, a quick transition never affected them. |
I mix Mina's wet and dry together, let it sit for a minute so the dry can be a little moiste. She takes a mouth full, rolls it around in her mouth and spits the dry out on the floor. I pick it up and throw it back in,at somepoint she eats it all. Then mom washes her face with a washcloth, cause she has food all over her face fur. Not a very dainty little princess. |

Ohhhhhh Yeah!! :) |
Haha how cute! My Bentley takes one piece at a time usually and drops it on the floor then proceeds to pick it up and eat it. Sometimes he takes about 3 or 4 pieces and does the same thing but one by one. He's not used to eating kibble though, so that may be why. I was feeding him a home cooked diet but just switched because he refused to eat any grain or vegetables, only meat so I know he wasn't getting good nutrition. I switched to Blue Buffalo small breed formula and he's slowly starting to eat some here and there. I hope he continues to eat it, he has a habit of stopping eating for a few days or more like the food isn't interesting enough or something.. I'm going to try green beef tripe on his food to see if he'll eat it. |
My Tibbe does the same thing. He picks out some pieces of kibble and just will not eat them. I have to throw them away. I have no idea why there are some pieces that are unacceptable. |
Both of mine does this!! It's so frustrating... |
Roxy has always done this. Most of the time, she comes back & eats them later. So why weren't they eaten the first time? Was something so special they needed to be saved for a special treat or what? It's a mystery we'll probably never know the answer to. lol! |
Louie will always take some and hide the kibbles. also he will never finish all the kibble in his bowl, he must leave atleast one kibble in his bowl at all time. What is really funny is he likes us to put his kibble in a empty water bottle, then he proceeds to flip it with his paws so it falls out and then proceed to eat the kibble.Tooo funny:D |
Gabby eats the green then the red, and then finally the brown. She will eat them all, but I guess she just picks out the ones that taste the best first in hopes that her bowl will get filled back up before she has to go back for the brown pieces. |
Mine eat home cooked food. Teddy likes to push all the food off the plate onto the floor and then clean it up slowly. It's very odd. |
Moses will take one piece, carry it to the hallway, then decides if he wants to eat it or not. He leaves a trail of single pieces. I ask him if he's been playing Hansel & Gretel again! Ha! Love his quirks! |
Mine get a mouthful and then take it to their beds to eat. They get to their individual beds, spit them out, and switch beds with the other and eat. Too funny. |
