How to find her a great home This is heartbreaking but I might have to part with my baby girl (she just turned 6). I am wondering what is the best way to find her a great home. I need someone who not only love yorkie but also know how to care for them. Ideas? Thanks. |
This is the best way right here on YT.Sorry you have to rehome your baby. |
I would contact a Yorkie Rescue in my area, they screen prospective owners very well and would only place her in an appropriate home.... |
Thanks ... Thank you both. Maybe I should try starting a thread on YT to find her a new home. I am not sure about rescue center, mainly because I don't know much about it. But I will look into yorkie rescue in Colorado. She is a wonderful baby and I am still trying to find a way to keep her. She would be spending a lot of time in boarding facilities and I am not sure that's the best for her. I just have to be sure that she would be loved and well care for. |
Yes start a thread and put in in the rescue section or the section where people want a yorkie. |
A rescue would help you in finding a home. Also, many of the YT members might be able to guide you to a good home. Can I ask why you are rehoming her? Also, you might post pictures and more information. |
So sad to hear about your situation...maybe post pictures & some info? |
My new job has me travel more and more but we have been doing OK. However, I recently learned that I will have to do some oversea assignments (length varies) and I will not be able to take her with me (quarantine requirement varies but it's not feasible). It couldn't be good for her to stay in boarding facilities for months at a time so the best option is to re-home her. I have had her since she was 12 weeks old. She has been a wonderful girl - loving, very well-behaved (never chew on anything other than her toys; never even pee on the carpet/floor). She just turned 6, weights a little over 6 lbs, spayed, healthy and happy. She loves everybody as well as other dogs (she is very submissive). And she is litter box trained. I will try to post a few pictures later. It's hard to part with her but ... I have to find her a very good home. |

That is so sad for you. And for her. But I do give you a hats off in being smart and looking into what is in the best interest of her. Please post pictures. Looking forward to seeing them. |
Just a thought, is there any other person you know who could just foster your baby until your schedule works out or just while you are away? Might be a way around rehoming? If not you got really great advice on how to rehoom. |
My friend works with a rescue group and I have to say I am impressed. They really take care of their foster pups until they can find a new forever home for them. They interview prospective families, visit their homes for an in-home interview, and sign an agreement that if for any reason the placement does not work out they will return the pup to the foster group. A lot of the yorkies they have fostered were unfortunately abused or neglected - but that just means they get to spend a little more time with the foster family to learn most human parents are okay. Sounds like your baby would be easy to place. So sorry to hear you may have to give her up. I hope you find a solution that is right for both of you. I am sure when you post on YorkieTalk you will find a lot of people in your area who would love to welcome her in their home. |

Sorry you mahe have to do that. Agree on finding a Yorkie Rescue. |
Sorry to hear this! I'm so, so sorry you have to give up your baby. I have two Yorkies of my own and because I work in my own home they are always with me. You should post some pictures here - However, I am going to pray that there is a way for you to keep her - they become so much a part of our lives.:( |
wow that is so sad that you have to part with her.... I hope you can find someone that you know who could watch her while you are gone.. it;s so sad to leave something you love behind.... I could never part with my babies.. ever... I hate when I have to leave for work at 6am amd I cant wait to get back to them at 12pm... I miss them like crazy... so for me to part with them... even for a little while is nuts... I hope you will find someone who will love her very much... good luck... try starting with a family member first.....;) |
This brings tears to my eyes. It has to be a very hard decision to make. To bad you don't have family members that would keep her for the time you would be over seas. I wish you the best luck in your travels and with placing your girl. Hopefully someone close will take her so you could see her now and then. Sending prayers it all works out |
