Jovi's coming home Picking my baby up this afternnoon from her spay - vet said she did great but I'm a little nervous about the recovery - keeping her calm etc. I got a kissee collar from Bo so hopefully that will keep her from licking - any other tips for keeping her from jumping would be greatly appreciated by this nervous Mom. |
Glad to hear Jovi's spay went well and that you will be bringing her home. Did the doctor mention a pain med? I would definitely bring home a med for pain, and they help keep the pup quiet (what I had for Max is actually an anti-inflammatory, but it helps with pain). I held Max a lot or sat with him to keep him calm. When I couldn't hold him, I kept him in his xpen and verbally encouraged him not to jump. Wishing your girl a speedy recovery. :) |
Glad Jovi can come home. I had my Sassy spayed last week. She was too tired the first 3-5 days to jump around much. It has been a week and she still is laying around a lot. She is not crated just confined to the kitchen/ sun room with the other 3. I only gave her the pain meds the first 4 days. Her stitches were inside so I didn't have to worry about that. Jovi will probably be calmer than you expect, just try to spend a lot of extra time with her. |
So glad Jovi's spay went well. No tips here, really. Riley acted as if Nothing happened, the next day. I have a big couch with really big pillows... I had to line the big pillows on the floor in front of the couch.... so he would not jump up and down.... and I just held him a lot or sat with him on the floor so that he could play near me and not be all over the place. I went and bought a baby onsie from Target and put him on it at night and when I could not keep an eye on him so that he did not lick. Sending positive vibes and hoping Jovi's recovery is a speedy one. :) The Vet gave me Rimadyl for pain which he took morning and night until it was all gone. |
I just brought Annabelle home yesterday from her spaying ( another puppy shot rabies shot blood work wellness test 4 teeth taken out ) She is fine the only way you would know she was done is by the cone on her head (she did not need I asked for it ) and stiches on her belly. She is not on any pain meds slept the night great ( not one noice all night ) today I can not keep her still. So I got a crate and everytime she starts get to excited I put her in because she is a big jumper Good luck just follow her lead she will let you know what to do. : ) |
TIP: Don't pick her up from under her arms. She has stitches and her belly hurts. Just scoop her up by her butt and chest. Try not to stretch her belly. Hope she is her old self soon!!! |
Thanks everyone for the well wishes - we are home now and she is acting like all is normal - that's a good and bad thing - she wants to play and jump - the vet gave her pain meds and I got her a big Nylabone to chew - so after the inital excitement of coming home - she is in her pen (door open) chewing on her bone. Hopefully this keeps her mellowed out for a bit. I had read earlier about the onsie trick and have a couple - she's really not a clothes puppy but it's either the onsie or the cone. Thanks again for the support ansd well wishes!:animal-pa |
