Marine in Boot Camp Needs Mail Hi YT Friends, you are always so supportive of every member. I have a young cousin (19) in Marine boot camp. Homesick, away from his ruraly NY home for the first time. If you would be willing to send him a card of gratitude, encouragement to make his day a little brighter, just reply to this thread with a comment, and I'll pm his address to you. My goal is 25 YT cards! Can you help brighten a young man's day as he prepares to serve his country and protect our freedom? |

Not a problem, but if his DI's are doing their jobs, he should not have any time to worry about being home sick. Tell him Boot Camp will be the easiest part of his time in the Corps, and thanks for volunteering with the best! |
oh ... I will and I will get my beautiful (but too old for him sorry) daughters will too. I did the same when my younger brother (many years ago) was going through boot camp. He said it really helped. Yes... Steve.. he didn't have much time, but even 10 mins. of encouraging words help!! |
Send me the address too and I will get my daughter to send one as well. We need to support our soldiers, young and old. i admire these young men for wanting to serve our country...says alot about character. Bless him and he will also be in our prayers. |
Mission accomplished....sent. Never call a Marine a Soldier! A Marine is a Marine. Army is a Soldier. Navy is a Sailor, Air Force is an Airman. A Marine is a Marine is a Marine. OOHRAH |
I would also like to sent him a card of appreciation. I could get my dd's whole sorority to send him one also. Please send me the address. Poor kid so sorry he is feeling homesick. He is doing us all a great service and he should be proud of himself. I'm sure he will be fine. It's just so overwhelming. |
Sure send the address |
Please send me the address as well. I would love to send him a card. My son needs a penpal, maybe we can hook them up. |
I'd love to send him something, please send me the address. |

Yes, former Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine. No such thing as an Ex-Marine. That is where the USMC in SHODAN comes from! :) |
Please send me his information as well. Just a word of advice, make sure folks writing to your future marine is aware that he is not officially a marine until he complete boot camp. Until that time, he is a recruit. You do not want DIs to have any reason to target your nephew for additional harrasment... oops, I mean training! :D BTW, don't know if you are aware but there is an awesome support system for marine families. While he is in boot, you can go to recruitparents.com. Look for his location (whether San Diego or Paris Island) and then search for his grad date. You can talk to parents of recruits in the same class who are going through the same concerns/issues/frustrations/fears! After he graduates, you move over to marineparents.com and can hook up with others based on where he is stationed, etc. Signed, One Proud Marine Momma |
