Not just a spaying Annabelle went for her spaying today. She is just over 5months now. When we got there they decided to give her her rabbies shot and another puppy shot plus blood work and a wellness test. ( I hate to see this bill tomorrow  ) She is also having her baby canine teeth pulled I feel so sorry for her. I called to check on her and everything is good. They keep her over night so they can watch them for over 24hours. I was wondering with more then just a spaying do you think recovery will be longer ? Thanks |

I'm glad that she is doing good. |
Wow! Can't believe a vet would do that all at once unless it was an emergency procedure. I'd be looking for a new vet. Did you have the option of bringing her up to date on shots first and then scheduling the spay? I hope she recovers quickly. |
I have been dealing with this vet for over 30 years now and trust him completly. This was not an emergancy it was a scheduled appointment. They keep the animals with them for over 24 hours to watch for any reactions or problems. This Vet has spayed or nutered about a dozen dogs and a few cats for us. We had to wait until she was over 5 lbs before she could have her rabbies and last puppy shots. I will see her tomorrow can't wait. |
So the vet is staffed around the clock? No way would I agree to a spay plus vaccinations. Heck I don't even allow mine to be gven two vaccinations at one time. |

This shows why we as pet owners have to be advocates for health practices that are in the best interest of our pups. |
I agree that I would have waited for the vaccines. I just had my Emee spayed, rear dew claws and two baby teeth removed. My husband and I waited in the waiting room until she was out if the anesetic. She stayed over night and our vet was the over night doctor with a very nice tech staff. I stopped by to see her at 8:00pm just to check and she was doing good. Four days later she was acting like nothing had happen. The hard part was keeping her quite. Good luck and praying for a quick recovery. |
