at 9~10 months, testicles still not dropped I took my 9~10 month yorkie (3 lbs 4 oz) to get neutered today, and he called asking whether he'd already been neutered. I had him since he was a puppy, so I am pretty sure unless the owners neutered him when he was just born (is that possible?) I'm wondering if it's normal that the testicles still have not dropped at this age? The vet keeps saying oldest that they drop is 6 months |
The vet has been checking Thor because at 6 months he still has one that has not dropped. She is pretty sure it will so we are just waiting..... |
Is your vet still planning on neutering him today? Sometimes they will never descend and the vet will need to explore to locate it for removal. Wasn't he able to palpate his abdomen? Good luck with his neuter. |
is it bad for him if it doesn't descend? I told him to wait so that I can ask the forum people haha. I wanted to know if the surgery to have them removed is invasive and dangerous if they haven't descended. and I'm confused as to why it hasn't descended yet? perhaps bc he's small? |
Yes, it's bad for them not to descend. If he can't palplate them, then an ultrasound should be able to determine whether or not they are present. They normally drop by 6 months of age, but they can remain in the abdomen with a condition called Cryptorchidism. |
Did the vet do the neuter on your little guy? How is he doing? |
He went through the surgery and now he's home. but he looks very hurt and looks uncomfortable.. he doesn't want to lay down and is sitting up but looks very dizzy and dazed. was everyones puppies like this after they were neutered? |
