A Question About Frontline I want to treat my dogs with Frontline but I am concerned that if I do they will get it into their mouths when playing. They are always nipping at each other and kissing each other. I don't know if this is safe. Any ideas or suggestions. I have been toying with this for a month now and as much as I know they need it, I'm afraid to use it |
I think there might be a time frame (in the instructions) that the pups should be kept away from kids after application. I'd use that as a guide and separate the pups for that amount of time. |
OK when we got our puppy who was just 8 weeks old she had flees so it was off to the vet. The vet told us that we must NOT use Frontline on a puppy under 8 weeks old so he sprayed her with another product and rubbed in all over her making sure every inch of her was covered. We then asked about her playing with another puppy and he said that would be fine as the treatment was non toxic. The lesson I learned was this.... First the vet new what he was talking about as opposed to seeking advice from a non qualified person. Second, that professional treatment works she has not had a flea on her since. Third, the treatment was so inexpensive we could not believe it. My advice to you is this, Take you baby to the vet this is your duty of care to the little thing. The vet will treat and advise and you will have done the right thing. |
I think the time line is 12 hours between application and allowing kids to pet/play with the dog. It may be difficult to do with a couple of pups that just want to play...are fleas/ticks bad in your particular area? If not maybe you could use a natural, non toxic alternative? |
