Eye crust What is the safest product to use to clean Abby's eyes. I have tried just warm water but it doesn't help. I do not want to get too close to her eyes with anything that will hurt her. |
I use baby wipes, the unscented ones, then a small flea comb to remove the gunk after it's soft;) |
Ok thanks. I use the baby wipes but I was always afraid to go by her eyes. Now I can try that since I already have it on hand. |
I use sterile gauze pads or cotton balls soaked in warm water, followed by a tiny flea comb. If the crusties are super crusty, it takes more work to loosen up the gunk. |
We use unscented baby wipes as well... works great and she doesnt complain or anything |

 We use this approach as well - warm water and tiny comb. I clean eyes twice a day and there is no opportunity for gunk build up if you keep up with it. |
I have found certain foods to make Jackson's eye gunk bad. He has hardly any at all since eating Acana and now we are on Taste of the Wild and they are even better! I can go 2-3 days without cleaning his eyes out and it's not even that bad. Just as an FYI. :) I don't use baby wipes, or combs, or anything, I just use my finger (I know, gross, right?) but it takes all of 2 seconds to pick a quick eye crustie out. |

I don't like making work for myself and I don't like using combs by eyeballs. Ellie is so wiggly. |

I pick it out with the fingers too, haha! I am too worried to use a comb near their eyes since they wiggle about so much. After I get any build up out, I will just a cotton square soaked in warm water to clean the area. I try to clean their eyes every morning, so there isnt usually too much buildup anyway. I really only need to clean Armani's eyes- he tends to take care of Chloe's for me- and his little tongue works better then anything I have tried. So another Yorkie is always an option! |
