I Really Have A Chewing Problem! Let my start by stating just a few thing that Ruby has chewed lately. First a pair of prada shoes from my sister, a new pair of shoes my sister didn't even get to wear, a pair of bebe shoes( also belonged to my sister), my sister coach bag, the plastic end of the shoes of ever member of my house, the crown molding at the bottom of my closet, the co  ffee table in the livingroom, electrical cords of my fan and her blowdryer etc......... I tried spraying bitter apple on somethings and it didn't work. She was chewing on my belt and I soaked it in bitter apple and she kept chewign as if nothing. What can i do to stop this. I am tired of scolding her and she has no lack of attention because all of mine is directed to her. My sister is furious and wants nothing to do with Ruby now, you can imagine since she into all those things from her and they are quite expensive. She never did this when she was smaller and it is a problem now that she is 8 months . I really don't understand. Please help. |
I need advice come on any one  |
Let me start off by saying she has great taste(PUN intended)...Is she teething, does she have different chew toy's to keep her occupied..also, get a shoe and belt rack for the time being. |

Teddy chewed when he was small but he out grew it. I know you said she has no lack where attention is concerned but she sounds bored in my opinion. When does she have time to chew all of these things without anyone noticing? I am sure that your sister is upset but why does your baby even have access to those sort of things? Try and teach her things like the words "off' and "drop" both are helpful to get them to leave something alone. Also work on tricks with her to make her use her mind. Most importantly get her things she can chew and that take time to chew like bully sticks. They might be ick but if I have something I need to do and can't pay full attention to Teddy then I redirect his attention. I hope that makes sense? |
what i'm doin right now w/ yoshi is just basically leaving him 0 alone time in the apartment. that way i both know what he's chewing and when he's about to pee (tho tonight i messed up and basically every bodily excretion came out of him while i had company over). like when he's walking around, i am on all fours literally hovering over him to make sure he's not doing things he isn't supposed to. and he chews on EVERYTHING. lately its been my pantlegs, but i'm sorta just letting that one go for now. when he chews on stuff i dont want him to, i'll usually yell a few times whenever he puts his mouth on them, and then give him something else right away to chew on. i dunno if this helps, cuz he's still in his puppy chew phase himself, but it at least keeps me from losing prada shoes. that i dont own. |

Here found this on the internet ___________________________ I encourage owners to buy a dozen or so high-quality chew toys--such as Kong Toys, Nylabones, Booda Velvets, rope toys, and natural, sterilized bones that won't splinter. Keep three toys out at a time and rotate them every few days so that the dog doesn't get bored. Novelty often causes a dog to choose an inappropriate item over a chew toy that has been sitting around for weeks. Make the toys more appealing by stuffing them with peanut butter or Cheez Whiz or soaking them in broth or bouillon. Encourage your dog to play with his toys by incorporating them into games such as fetch or "find your bone." |
hayley chews too, i hope she outgrows it |

My philosophy is that pups are like toddlers - I couldn't leave anything out that my toddler would get into and I have to do the same with Rowdy - anythng that I leave out where it is accessible is pretty much my fault. I also agree that as little "alone time" as possible is a good thing. One last thing, as the old saying goes, a tired pup is a good pup - so whatever you can do to burn up that excess energy will help |
