Weird Activity Hello all brand new to the forum, My wife and I recently inherited a three year old female Yorkie, Mia, from our sister-in-law. This little dog is great. Very well trained and loving. However, both my wife and I work and this week was the first time she has been left alone for more than 8 hours. She does not chew, bark or mess the house. She just lies in her little bed all day. Normally, before this week when everyone was at the house she would always be around us, in our laps, and playing. Now we have to pick her up take her outside then the happy little dog shows up. Is this the famous separation anxiety I’ve read so much about? Any help would be great. P.S. she is eating the same and always does her stuff outside. |
If she seems restless, paces back and forth or anything like that I would think that would be some form of separation anxiety. The only way to knowing for sure is to put a webcam on her so you see how she is doing when you are at work. I did this for my little one and I was pleasantly surprise to see that she sleeps most of the time. So she definitely doesn't have separation anxiety. When I get home from work Brandi breaks her neck trying to get to me. She is so excited about seeing me. Since you just got her, it may take her some time to get excited about seeing you as well. She may not have fully bonded with you as of yet. I say get a webcam to monitor her while you are at work then you know for sure if it's separation anxiety. |
That's the weird thing. We have had her for almost two months and everytime we came home, before this week, she would jump and go crazy to see us. This just behavior just started on Tuesday. She does not pace, just lies in her bed. As I mentioned when we get her outside she jumps all over us and can't wait to walk and explore. As soon as we get home she runs to her bed. We can't get her out. She even growls a little when we pick her up. Vet said she was fine physically. |
