frogs Abby just killed a frog on the back porch. When I went to check on her she was throwing it around. I don't know if she bit into it or not. Is she going to get sick? |
I know some frogs are poisonous though I am not sure which ones. I would call my vet to see what symptoms to watch for at the least. I hope she is ok. |
I agree call your vet and describe the frog and see if they can tell you if Abby needs to be seen. I hope it is a harmless kind. |
Oh never mind. It is just Abby's mom freaking out again. I got the vet on the phone and she asked me to go to the frog for more details. Well when I did the frog was hard as a rock so the poor fellow had been gone for a while. The doctor did say she would have a reaction almost immediately if this had been a real emergency. But they are open for another hour and I am 5 minutes away if I feel I should take her in, but the vet said Abby or someone else had gotten the frog and I would definately have seen symptoms already |
Glad to hear! It's easy to panic but always better to be overprotective than not. |
Glad Abbey's okay, she really keeps you on your toes doesn't she? :D |
She will be the death of me. She is a good girl BUT!! I try so hard to keep her out of harms way and she always finds a loop hole. |
I am glad everything is ok... I was thinking I had read the reaction is immediate, but I didn't want to post that if it wasn't correct. These little guys keep us on our toes:D |
Sometimes I think I keep myself on my toes. I run around like a crazy woman and she looks at me like why are you getting yourself all worked up. lol |

When Ziva got a frog last year she was foaming at the mouth within seconds- before we could even figure out what she had. If she had had a very bad reaction I don't think we would have gotten her to the vet on time.I keep all the leaves and corners well swept now! |
She was on my back patio. It is screened in so there aren't any leaves but I have seen lizards and frogs from time to time. They probably get in from under the screen door. |
Bufo frogs are very poisonous..and they react very quickly...the poison is absorbed through the gums. I have know pet owners who lost their pets from bufo's... I have an indoor atruim and have to make sure all plants are insect and frog free when I bring them in...had a frog jump out when I went in there one say to water...but I caught him. |
Frogs can cause foaming vomiting but yes its right away. Maybe it was Stinky & she liked it |
My boys get frogs and toads often.... they are not poisonous here though. I know they foam at the mouth and shake their heads when they 'try' the frogs since they must taste terrible. Hope your baby is ok! |
