Grooming- it's hot here! We have a 3 year old Yorkie, Lovey- who loves her walks! But it's in the 90's here in Nashville and she doesn't want to go out - I can understand why, wearing a full length mink coat - I've seen other Yorkies shaved except for their faces - is this OK to do? Do they like relief in the hot summers? I have an appointment this week but don't want to do anything that's not good for her. Thanks! |
2 Attachment(s) I kept my two in full coats until this year. I am so glad I did the cut I did. They have so much more energy and are more playful. I know they feel better. Here is the cut I did. |
i let mine have longer in the winter but once it warms up we shave off most of it. They are much cooler that way. It is up to you what look you like if you cut or leave. the hair does grow back pretty fast at least on my dogs |
We have a 14 month old yorkie. We had him shaved in April and his hair grows back really slow so I don't know if I'll have to shave him for the summer. We also have a 18 month old shorkie who's hair is not that thick. Our Shih tzu however has a very thick coat of fur but he is deathly afraid of the groomer so we really don't know what to do with him. We have central air in our home and he's not really out alot. He just just his business and comes right in. |
Well.....I don't shave all my hair off in the summer  Seriously, I love the long-haired traditional yorkie look, and my pups hair is so slow growing...no way I'm shaving it for any season. My plan is to just crank the AC and keep the ice-maker going all summer long. |
