Help w/webcam?
 
I've seen others posst about setting up a web cam @ home to log in and check up on their babies while they are at work and I'm wanting to do it. Can anyone give me advise on how to set one up? I have a first year ipad so now sure if I can hook a camera up to it or not but will to try it. Thanks

You can view them from an ipad, but not use it as a webcam.
Mine is a Panasonic network camera. Its nice because it isn't hooked up directly to a computer. (It must be when you initially setup the camera, but that's the only time.) I haven't had any experience with the kind that hooks up to a pc. It is quite a bit more pricey than webcams that run off a pc. But on the plus side, it comes with a host site for your camera and you don't have to pay extra for it. It also has a built in microphone to hear what's going on around it, and the camera moves around & can zoom. The tech support was really good too when I called them.
You'll need to make sure that you have a router for your internet that is compatible with it also.

I got mine from Amazon a few yrs ago, so the newer ones hopefully are even better!

Another program is called webcam xp lite. This version is free. I used it for my pc. If you want something for your ipad or iphone that's free try juni. You can download from itunes app store

Here's the link to my webcam so you can see what webcam xp looks like. The camera is actually pointing down at the floor because I knock it behind the desk and have been just to lazy to pick it. http://72.94.37.223:8080/multi.html

Also you need a version 2 ipad to get the builtin webcam.

I want one of these also. My son knows how to do all of this but from what I am told it can get quit expensive. There was a member on here several months ago that had it set up over his puppies little apartment he made for him and he could watch him anytime he wasn't at home. It was amazing.

It all depends on the cost of the camera and the number of cameras. If you want a wireless ip camera (more commonly used for security) then yeah it will get expensive. But if you are cheap like me and you just want something to view your baby, then go with a little cheap logitech webcam that connects to your pc.
