my yorkie puppy doesn't go sleep at night><"" help I finally got a yorkie puppy . tonight is the first night sleeping at my house. but she doesn't go sleep. she keept running around the room. how can i put her to sleep so i can get some rest? please help |
The first couple of days will be restless...lol. Are you planning on crating her? If so, which I would recommend (or atleast keeping her penned so she doesn't hurt herself), then make it as comfy as possible. Also, You can get a ticking clock and wrap it in a soft cloth and put in there with her. However you're just going to have to be patient till you get a routine going. Congrats :-) |
Put her in an Xpen or a crate... You can buy her a Snuggle Puppy.... which is a stuffed animal that has a plastic battery operated heartbeat inside with an on/off button. |
Yep, agree with the above advise. It will take patience and also, be very consistent with your the same nightly rountine. Zhoie had an x-pen with her bed, pee pad, toy and food/water bowls. Everynight she went last pee-pee outside and then straight to nightie-night in her x-pen with no change in the rountine. I'm here to tell you, my girl did NOT like it at all, she cried for a little while everynight for 7 nights....then it broke and she went to bed everynight without a sound. Don't expect sleep for a few nights I'm afraid, but it will work out in the end. |
Warning the first week, like when you have a newborn baby, is going to be really challenging and you're probably only going to get on average 3 hours of sleep per night. We crated Gizmo, and he cried the whole night, we were told "oh yeah, he'll stop" but he didn't until about the second week. It's going to require alot of patience and complete structure and rotuine. Make sure you're going to bed at the same time every night and that you're consistant when when you take him out during the night and when you get up. They do make a toy that they carry at Petsmart and Petco I believe that has a beating heart as well as one that you can microwave the inside and she can cuddle up with both. If it's with a crate or xpen she's going to whine, so you have to be strong if that's what you want to do. But please remember a month from now it'll be worth the lack of sleep. Good luck! And keep us posted. |
And try to keep her awake as much as possible during the day by playing with her, so she's tired at bed time. |
I would definitely crate her at night, you cant watch her when your sleeping so she could get into things that might hurt her. Also maybe play with her or take her for a walk before bed. |
Hi. Happy that you got your puppy. I always have people pick babies up on Fri. And at 10 or 11 weeks I start putting them in their own crate to eat and at night. I think this reduces the stress factor when they go to their new home. I have a sound machine that I use in the nursery so they hear 60 mins of heartbeats at night.Their first night I do not cover the crate so they can see each other. I cover each crate separate on the 2nd night and give them a chew treat. I also agree with the walk before bed. Most of the time it still takes a few nights or so for them to just go to bed without protesting. Hope some of our hints help you out. Hugs |
I agree with other posters, the first week or so it will be like having a newborn baby. They won't sleep through the night and will cry to go potty or simply for a cuddle/attention. I know when I first got Poppy I was like a zombie for the first two weeks because I had no sleep at all, but it does get better. I think you should either crate her at night or put her in a pen so you know exactly where she is and can have peace of mind that she isnt roaming around the house chewing wires ect. apart from that theres not much you can do apart from wait it out. A hot water bottle under her bedding and a ticking clock may help. |
