Question regarding Obie's hair????? Hey guys, it seems like Obie's hair is thinnning on the top of his head. i noticed he is changing colors. Is this normal? He also is brushed twice a day and I do not part his hair, but it is parting on his skull down to his back-does this happen naturally? I thought it was strange, I know they don't shed but seriously his head hair is so much thinner! |
Yes and yes. It is all normal and natural. :) The coat appears thinner on top. It is lighter. It will thicken in time. |
How old is Obie (and cute name by the way :D )? I know when I got Monkey, he had that thick black puppy hair. I would say after he was about 8 months old, his hair did start feeling a little thinner and started turning pretty white on his scalp. Look at the hair in his brush/comb after brushing him. You probably see a really fuzzy type of hair in it. I believe this is their puppy hair that they sort of "shed" I guess you would say. His started to become much shinier and really pretty. Also, as their hair gets longer, it will naturally part on it's own. Just like us, there are all sorts of hair textures. Sometimes it just has a mind of it's own. However, if you think it's a sort of balding issue, go see your vet right away! I hope I helped a little! :) |
That happened here. Shelby has feathery thin white hair on her head now. ( I thought she looked sort of bald for awhile) I have a new question on this subject. Last week I noticed she has dark golden brown blotches of roots on her forehead. What is up with THAT? At first I thought it was skin pigment but now I see it's gold hair. |

Thanks, I don't think he is balding, his hair is really shiny!!! It is just thin, he is 13 weeks old. So do they start this early? I read the coat color section, and it looks like he will end up being of good color and coat-he is already super soft! I just wasn't sure if it happens this soon, or farther down the line. The part, just feaked me out! I didn't think they parted this early! I am definitely not an expert! |
Taylah's head is like this too! Hers is so thin on top of her head and its like a white/silver on her end and at the roots on top of her head. She is such a cutie with it and I can't wait to see how she ends up and keeps changing! |
It is not too early for it to start changing. Some start earlier than others. |
Taylah sounds like Obie! His roots are a light gold though, I mistook them for whit, because of his skull, But because it started as black, I thought that part would turn blue??? Am I wrong? |
