Very important Yorkie Puppy Questions Hello my 3 month old yorkie puppy, Chewy, has done diahrhea twice so far, sneezes, and scratches himself. He is eating chicken 3x a day and his puppy food is in his plate at all times. I also give him nutrical and albon 1x a day at different times. He spends the day in my living room and plays with me when im around. When im not around, he lays in his blanket and falls asleep. At night, he sleeps in a crate. He is going to his vet tomorrow because he still needs two more vaccinations. Please help me with my puppy. What am i doing wrong? i love him hes so playful and a pleasure to have around. And by the way, can i brush him or shower him at this age without his vacinations? Please tell me me what im doing wrong. i dont want my pup sick or unhappy. |
Hi, the best thing is to take Chewy to the vets, for sure they wont vaccinate him now as he is not alright.. It would be alright to bath him quickly at home if he was alright.. for now the best thing to do is to keep him warm.. make sure he drinks loads of water He can have flu or he is allergic to something you are giving to him... the vet will be the best one to tell you whats wrong. Just be sure they wont vaccinate him until he is fine again.. it can kill him otherwise. goog luck!! :) |
so him being in hot weather is fine? because my house is airconditioned. i thought it was better cool because he might get hot. :/ |

if you keep your house too cold maybe he has flu... but having diarrhea is strange.. anyway never let him have diarrhea for more than 48h.. take him to the vet straight away.. he is too small and fragile at this point... of course it depends of how hot is the weather around there.. He wouldn't be feeling alright if it is hotter than 100F (well.. nobody would) I keep my house at 66-68F and my chi is freezing cold sometimes.. and she is 1 year old already.. I wish I could use air conditioner instead of central HEATING... aff.. here is so cold... brrrrr I am not an expert.. just trying to help from the experiences I had.. :) good luck with your little one and keep us posted please..:aimeeyork |
Im taking him tomorrow and also How can i prevent my dog from being carsick. Thank u for ur helP by the way i turned off my air conditioner |
You need to make sure he is drinking plenty of water. Diarhhea is very dehydrating. Check to make sure his gums are pink and wet and not sticky. If they are pale and sticky that means he is dehydrated. If he won't drink water, you can put a bit of low sodium fat free chicken broth in there too. I'd bring him to the vet asap. |

How did it go with your little one?? Car sickness goes away with time.. he needs to get used to the car first.. at least for me it happened like that.. it helps if you don't take him for a drive as soon as he eats.. wait a while if possible.. I hope everything is alright.. :aimeeyork |
It went well his ears were jus a little red but he is fine. I am starting his vaccinations nxt week he does open his mouth in the car im guessing from heat. I want him to get used to driving though |
I think you would be better with the Air Conditioner on... just make sure he has a place with blankets that he can crawl under if he wants to be warmer. I keep my AC at 78 degrees F. He may be allergic to chicken... you could try him on a different protein to see if he stops itching and sneezing... Yes the past 2 days have been awful here with the heat... AC for you both...definitely... |
Checking in to see if there are any updates on Chewy |
U meant ac in the car or in the house? And thank u all for helpn i appreciate it |
Both the car and the house. |
78F would be alright as it isn't cold.. just don't have your AC too cold.. You guys are not supposed to melt in the house.. :) I'm glad he is fine.. did the vet said why all this was happening to him??? I agree with KJC, he might be allergic to chicken.. there are some hypoallergenic food on the market, maybe you should try for a while to see how he goes.. |
Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why you give him NutriCal daily? I notice that a lot of new puppy owners do this and I wonder why. I have never had to give any of my dogs NutriCal (but I do keep it on hand 'just in case'). Too much sugar is not good either, but wouldn't cause the symptoms your pup is having. Just wonderin'. |
