Oh man. So if someone falls for that, they cash the money, turns out to be fake, then you end up paying that money back to the bank or whoever because it was cashed in your bank account and you are out a puppy to a scam artist! Freaky! Good eye! Hannah |
I had about 10 different emails like that when I had a pup for sale. They are big time scams! If someone tells you to cash the check & mail them the balance its a total scam. Also if they already have a shipper in your area ready to pick the dog up, its a scam also. Please don't ever take money from them! :thumbdown |
That happened to me with a rescue that I placed on Petfinder and my husband being a cop decided to play along and the guy gave us his phone number and my husband called him and then he started yelling at my husband saying are you trying to scam me...I want my money...He said he was in London but his phone came back to Florida and he wanted out address cause a friend was coming to pick up the dog for him and wanted to see how far it was.. Do you think I gave it to him???? Well yeah like and idiot I did and he threatened to come to our house and kill us. I SWEAR it was the first time I have ever seen my husband yell and he told him lots of horrible words and then said I dare you to step foot in my city and he identified himself as a cop and the guy hung up...He mailed me a check for $10,000 and we gave it to one of the detectives... |

I posted something similar to this......when we called the FBI we were told that what happens is that the cashier check/money orders are fake. The banks in the US don't know they are fake until after they cash and are sent back to out of country bank. By then, the crooks get the money and then the bank comes back on you to get the money back they gave you and you are now out of the money and probably the puppy. I think most banks are catching on because I had a legitimate money order from Canada and I deposited it through the ATM, well they sent it back telling me that I had to go inside the bank to deposit it. When I did they had to call the other bank and found out that it was legit. It's sad that people out there are doing this to innocent people!! |
Thats why its always best to meet with the other person. |
