Oh the guilt and the worry. =/ Separation Anxiety!!!!!Only this time it's me me who is in distress. Thursday I leave out of town to see my family. I haven't seen them in so long and I'm really excited but I don't have a car or enough money to fly so I'll have to take greyhound and that means Roxy has to stay behind. This will be the 1st time I am going to be without her since I got her in February. I wasn't comfortable boarding her for the 5 days while I'm gone..just the thought of her being in her crate for more than a few hours freaks me out because I know she hates it. A friend volunteered to watch her, he is a fellow animal lover and used to be a vet tech so I trust his judgment and feel like she will be in good hands but I cant help but worry. I worry she's going to be upset with me. I'm worried shes going to be bad and make their lives miserable. I'm worried that something accidental might happen because they might over look something. I wonder if leaving her will ever get easier. She is a very good girl and I hope she will be on her best behavior I'm just worried about the unknown. I hope my guilt doesn't spoil my trip. I'm just venting I know there isn't really much advice anyone can give on this matter but you guys are always good for a listen. Thanks <3 |
No worries Momma! Whenever I leave Gizmo for a few hours I feel uber guilty too until I remember he's in a nice cool house with his treats and water, Pooh blanket, squeeky skunk, and panda bear. And he's safe, and can't get into anything. If you're friend's a vet tech, then I'm sure she'll have no problem taking care of Roxy. And I'm sure if she has any questions or doubts, she will call you. But if it makes you feel better, make a list of "just in case" senarios so it'll be mapped out. I'm sure she'll miss you, but it'll be a matter of minutes where it'll go from "where's momma?" to "OOOO squeeky toy!!" Much love and hugs from me and Gizmo! All will go well! No worries! |
I know that feeling. I rarely leave my yorkies, but the times I've had to aren't fun. Thankfully I have a sister who takes them and is very good to them, but I still worry like crazy. I hope you have a great time with your family and can hopefully relax and enjoy. I'm sure Roxy is in good hands and she'll be so glad to see you when you get back! |
It sounds like you have found a perfect person to watch her while you're gone! How long is the greyhound ride? If I were you... I'd be sneaking them on with me :p I hope you have a great trip. Don't stress about her too much, she will probably have a lot of fun :D |
Thanks everyone. I already feel a little bit better. The bus ride is 5 hours each way. Trust me I thought about sneaking her on but I don't how well she would do... she's not the best at sitting still haha. If the bus was 1-2 hours I would totally do it. Plus the bus will be driving through a lot of Nowhere, Texas...If I get kicked off for breaking the rules I could end up stranded in little chainsaw massacre town. EEP! |
I just got back from a 8 day trip to Greece. I too was worried about my little one. I left her with my stepmom who also happens to be an animal lover. I knew she was in good hands. One of the things I did do before I left was to let Brandi spend some weekends at her house so that she would be used to my stepmom and to let her know that mommy is coming back. Worked like a charm. Brandi has a safe and secure environment to go to whenever I go away and she actully likes it there. As good as my stepmom treats her, Brandi still gets excited when I WALKk through the door. She didn't forget me and but she was rather to rude to my stepmom. When she saw me, she completely ignore the person who had lovingling taken care of her while I was away. I gotta teach her better manners :p. |
