Introduce Kobe!!! Hello everyone, I think it's time to introduce my little boy Kobe, ok first of all i think i got my little boy from a BYB, i saw an add on cragslist about yorkie puppies and i thought it is my luck, because i been looking for a small breed puppy. I know i did not do my homework before i got my little boy, i didn't do enough research about BYB or puppymill then, so i just came to her look at the litter and Kobe craw to us ( because the puppies just 5 weeks old) they all shaking and i thought they were cold, so my bf end up fall in love with kobe and that it for us. I told the lady that we will pick our puppy up on sunday so we will have time to go buy all the essential to welcome my baby home, but on weds morning i cant wait no longer so i make my bf wake up at 5:45 to go to pick kobe up from the lady house (im not gonna call her a bredder bcuz i know she is not and her house is 2 minute away from where we live). i got kobe when he 5 1/2 weeks and have no idea that bad for a puppy bcuz that lady told me that she already separate the puppies with their mommy anyway. she did not prove any paper for kobe bcuz she claim that she sale the puppy so cheap that she not gonna do it, nor give them the puppy shot and deworm. right after we bring kobe home we set up a little space to put his bed one side, we want to train him inside potty so we set up Igodog on the other side (i dont really like the crate train anyway, i dont want kobe have to hold his little blader too long). We come look at him on monday, bring him home weds, which he is 5 1/2 weeks old so i wait until the next monday to bring him to the vet close to where we live for his general check up and his first puppy shot and deworming. The vet told us he seem like a healthy little puppy, he weight 1.8 lb at that time. Since the day we got Kobe I went to Petsmart and bought milk replace formular to feed him until he turn 6 weeks then i add boil chicken breast with boil vegetable ( baby carrot, cauli flower) chop very small so he can chew, he seem like love it, i also feed him dry kibble now cuz i see that puppy kibble have the vitamin and nutrition for puppy, i feed him AvoDerm Chicken Meal & Brown Rice Puppy Formula. His eating schedule right now is in the morning drink his puppy milk (i know he doesnt need it any more but i just want the full nutrition for him) then eat kibble for his lunch, have his fresh cook chicken breast and vege for diner and milk again before go to sleep. So kobe been with us for three weeks now, he get use to us me and my bf and follow us wherever we go, he come when we call his name, and he is a very playful little boy, i know he seem to be healthy but after read all the experiment from Fostermom and LadyJane i was thrill, i love my baby so much that i would not trade anything for him and i dont want anything bad happen to (knock on wood), i will bring kobe to the vet next tuesday for his second set of shot, and this time i want him check inside out, i been following YorkieDaddy topic and i know i need to ask the vet test on LP, Bile acid, BAT, Liver shunt, then wat else? what question i need to ask the vet this time? cuz last time i didnt know wat to ask so i just ask a bunch of general question but not really about all the health relate in yorkie, and kobe seem like dont have lots of hair like other yorkie puppy i seen, the lady claim he is pure breed and i saw his daddy but not the mommy, she said she had to lock the mommy up because she will get upset if she see stranger touching her puppy so i never meet the mommy. I try to looking for a good insurance plan for kobe too, so anyone have they furbabies on any of the pet insurance plz give me review about the company you are using, see some already recommend on Pet Best and Pet Plan PS. the 1st is the lady sent to my fone so i dont knw how old he is in that pic the 2nd, 3th, 4th pic is the first day we bring him home which is 5 1/2 weeks old. the one he with his toys is when he turn 6 weeks http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...IMG_0076-2.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...r/IMG_0081.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...r/IMG_0082.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...r/IMG_0084.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...r/DSC_5368.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...r/DSC_5369.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...r/DSC_5371.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...r/DSC_5373.jpg |
47 people look at the thread and no one can give me some advice???? |
Welcome to you & Kobe! He is a real sweetheart, such a darling face. He looks yorkie to me. I can't imagine how much hair you expect, but I would say he has nice hair considering he is on 5-6wks. Sorry, can't help with pet insurance, I don't have any for Zhoie. I'm sure others will offers some info on them. Just wanted to welcome you both. Can't wait to see more pictures as Kobe grows:). |
@ Perrella: your baby look darling too, thank you for your respond, that what i have been concern, i can see his hair grown long now, but just an hour ago i try to shave his ear and notice some pink dot inside his ear, is that affection? it look like little pimple so i end up didnt shave his ear, thank you |
What a sweet baby. Its too bad he had to leave his mommy so young. I think its real important for them to be with the mother and litter mates at least until they are 12 to 13 wks. old. He looks healty and like he is doing fine. You are a good mother. As far as insurance goes I have heard pros & cons. I personally think its better to put back money each week, or monthly whatever and then when an emergancy comes up you have it to use. Good luck on with your little one. Looks like you are doing a great job. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Kobe's very cute! Good pics! Congratulations! There's a thread on insurance... here's a link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...rifaj-dvm.html Lots of info in the YT Library... There's info on vaccines in the Library as well... Kobe should have a fecal done. When he gets vaccinated, only get one vaccine at a time, and space them 1 month apart. Keep him in the house until his vaccine schedule is completed. The BAT is the Bile Acid Test, which tests for Liver function, is used in diagnosing Liver Shunt and other problems, and is not very reliable until pups are older (4-6 months). The vet can check for LP on physical exam, again when he's older. As long as he's eating and drinking, I wouldn't worry too much. If he's having any problems, discuss them with your vet. Sorry I couldn't be more help.... |
Kobe is a real cutie!!! I do not use pet insurance. It seems to not cover most of the things that we routinely use. Sometimes I think like others have said, put away X amount of dollars, to keep for an emergency instead. :) Good luck with the cutie patootie!! |
Sorry, I don't know about the pink on his ear. Maybe it is just a pimple. Just watch it and have the vet check when he goes in for shots, uless you feel a vet visit is needed sooner. Others should be stopping by to offer some experienced advise for you. Good luck to you and enjoy your sweet baby! |
thank you everyone for the warm welcome, i really appreciate it, @kjt: i seen that thread b4 and the link is dead, ummm yea i been doin research on insurance and i can see the con and pro, but when i go through out the forum, i seen FosterMom and LadyJan post, it scare me bcuz even i save up for Kobe now but i cannot afford lot of money out pocket at a time like FosterMom spent $1700 on her baby |

Be careful with insurances, many won't cover congenital nor pre-existing conditions... |
Kobe is gorgeous! So sad he was taken away so early :( As far as insurance goes, I decided against it. I just have a percentage of my check go to a savings account for pet emergencies etc. I would go to the vet for a fecal exam at least twice a yr. Good luck with Kobe Oh and about his hair, he is SO YOUNG still. Most people on here bring their puppies home at 12 weeks or later so the pictures you are looking at are of older puppies with more hair. |
Welcome to YT. Kobe is a cutie. You did get him too young, but nothing can be done about that now. It seems that you are taking good care of him. I don't have pet insurance, and I don't plan on purchasing any. I would just put back a little at a time into a savings account in case of emergencies. You don't live too far from me. I live in northeast MS. |
@JESSY_RN2B: thank you for your response, heheh i just curious bcuz see other furbaby like a fur ball and kobe hair was so straight, but now hear from you guys im less worry, i love him no matter more or less hair, thank you @elemtchr99: ahhhhhh so nice knwin someone live by close, we can do some yorkie day out if you interesting, i want kobe have a good social skill due to his take away from mom and litter mates so early |
Kobe is very cute. I have 4 yorkies and have learned a lot from YT. I don't have insurance either. Even though he is very young it sounds like you are doing a great job taking care of him. Good Luck and keep posting pictures as he grows. |
Welcome to YT. I got my Bella when she was almost 11 weeks old and thought her hair was thin on her head, but now she is a little older and once I put her on some better food, the new hair is coming in and her new colors are cutting in. She is just a beautiful girl and like you, it doesn't matter to me how much she has, she is mine and I will love her any way!!!! But again, welcome and lots of hugs to your little one!! |
@susan lynn: i sure will have more pics come, i love take pics for kobe @Bella Mae: i feed him AvoDerm Chicken Meal & Brown Rice Puppy Formula, is this a good formular for him i see lots of member in YT feed their baby Royal Cannin. This is their ingredients: Chicken Meal, Ground Whole Brown Rice, Ground Whole Rice, Rice Bran, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Ascorbic Acid), Oat Bran, Avocado Meal, Flax Seed, Dried Alfalfa Meal, Avocado Oil, Herring Meal, Lecithin, Natural Flavor, Rosemary Extract, Sage Extract, Bromelain, Papain, Dried Bacillus Subtilis Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Product, Monosodium Phosphate, Choline Chloride, Ferrous Sulfate, DL-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate (Source of Vitamin E), Zinc Oxide, Sodium Selenite, Manganous Oxide, Riboflavin Supplement (Source of Vitamin B Complex), Copper Sulfate, Zinc Methionine, Iron Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Cobalt Proteinate, Niacin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Source of Vitamin B6), Calcium Iodate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Source of Vitamin B1), Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement. Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein (min) 26.00% Crude Fat (min) 16.00% Crude Fiber (max) 4.00% Moisture (max) 10.00% Omega 6 Fatty Acids (min) 3.45% Omega 3 Fatty Acids (min) 0.19% |
I fed Gizmo Avoderm before he lost interest in it and I switched him to Innova. Both are good foods. I perfer them both over Royal Canin, but it's more personal choises I guess. Since he is so young, it's good that you're getting the milk replacement as well as the kibble, this will help fill in for him not being with Momma. Until he's had his first round of shots, I would keep him away from other pets. Also, check with your vet when you can start giving him a flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Especially since it's the right season for ticks, indoor potty taining might be better until you get the okay to put him on it. With regards to pet insurance, Gizmo has trupanion. I pay about $20 dollars a month and it cover him with a deductable of $250. I did this simply because we had an emergency vet visit which ended up costing us $390 as well as Gizmo is a BYB dog and who knows about the potential health problems he'll have. Good luck with your baby and keep us posted. |
@Taryn0405: yes that wat exactly i worry about and i know it noway i can afford the vet bill i mean i can pay a small amount but i hear it can cost up to thousands and i am a college student |
I cant get any pics to come up for me, I have pets best from boise idaho and I think they are great, I have used it twice for chester and they reimburse very quickly. |
@chestermama: the links is fine i just check it, thank you for ur review |
Hi. I am also a college student who can no way afford big vet bills. My roommate told me about Pet Assure--it's awesome. It's very cheap monthly. I go to one their vets and they give me 25% off the bill every time I go. I saved tons of money already. |
@ TaylorE: thank u for the infor, i sure will need to check it out |
