whats your opinion? Yesterday at vet Hayley weighed 4 1/2 lbs!!! She is almost 14 weeks old. The vet still say she wont weigh over 71/2-8lbs. I think he is wrong it doesnt matter to me either way I love her so much no matter but with your alls experience as to what your furbaby weighed at this age whats your opinion? |
Sammi was 2.5-3lbs at 14 weeks...She is now 13 lbs (almost 2years old)...Her mom was 8 and her dad 3...So in my opinion ya never know :) I was told Sammi wouldnt get larger than 8/9lbs...Butttt she did and that is totally ok by me....The more Yorkie the merrier :) |
I actually wanted mine to be OVER 5-6 lbs - I wanted to ENJOY them and not worry about every move they made ...I wouldn't even worry about it because anything under 10 lbs is still small in the larger scope of things...As long as she's healthy and has no health issues - consider yourself BLESSED. |
I know I've posted this before, at least twice :D , but it's a guessing game for the most part...my pups from my oops litter produced pups that are now from 4 to 11 pounds at eight months old! And like Fran2478 said, a smaller mom and dad can produce a big pup or vice versa. I think if you buy from a reputable breeder who has and knows the weight of ancestors you can better guess the adult weight of pup....JMO :) |
you know what....I think that all puppies are different and no one can tell for sure what sixe a puppy will be. |
its like people. in my family my mom and dad are both about 5 8, my sister is 5 2, i'm 6 foot and skinny and my brother is huge and pushing 6 3. so who knows |
...and in my experience, even the runts can prove the growth charts wrong! :D |

My opinion is as long as she's healthy, weight doesnt matter. :D |
Satch weiged 4.3 lbs and he is 3 and 1/2 months old but he is long legged ! When he curls up he looks so tiny but when he stands,he is tall ! I was told by my vet that he shouldn't get a lot of treats so I have tried to back off ,I make my own biscuits that ALL our dogs love .I have a 109 lb Akita cross female,a 80 lb. Golden Retriever / Chow cross male and my step daughter( lives with us ) has a 34 lb Cocker Spaniel.Satch's favorite is Teeky a BIG gray indoor cat that he loves to terrorize :p One is just as bad as the other!! I would like to see Satch weigh at least 7 lbs and fill out a bit.Time will tell as to the wieght.I too was told that Satch would only weigh 5 lbs at full growth.I don't care what he weighs as long as he is healthy!!!! |
Edie was 3.5 lbs at 14 weeks and she is 6.5 lbs. now. Your vet could very well be right....hard to say though. They are all individuals. |
