Poor Zach My poor little Zach lost his little friend today. Not a dog but my little guinea pig Ponch. I came over to the cage and Ponch had passed away. Zach played with Ponch all the time. When I took Ponch out of his cage Zach thought he was going to play, but he couldn't understand why I didnt bring Ponch to him. He watched me put Ponch in a box and waited while we buried him. Then he wouldn't come inside and sat by the grave for a long time. When we finally got him inside he kept running to the cage and crying as if his heart would break. He won't come near me now. He wouldn't eat dinner he just sits by the cage a cries I offered him his favorite treats but he wouldn't take it. We don't know how to snap him out of this. We have another guinea pig named Cisco, but Zach loved only Ponch. This breaks my heart because Zach is always just a happy dog and loves to be with us but now I think he is really angry at us. |
Oh that's so sad. Hugs for Zach and you. |
Oh no, that's so sad. Poor little guy may not understand, hope he feels better soon. I'm sure they need time to grieve too. :( |
I'm sorry. Poor Zach is broken hearted over losing his friend. Sending him hugs. |
I'm sorry for your and zach's loss. I wish I had some advice but I really don't know how to help him. Maybe time will help with healing. |
Oh that is soo sad.Sending you and Zach hugs. |
I am sorry for the loss of Ponch. Poor Zach. |
I'm so sorry that Zach lost his little friend Ponch. That is so sad. |
How heartbreaking:( Poor Zach, I hope he is feeling a little better this morning. These little guys are so intelligent and they have such strong feelings. I am so sorry for the loss of Ponch. This is just the saddest thing, I can only imagine how it hurts to see Zach grieving so hard. Bless his heart. |
Thank you for all your kind words and sympathy. Zach isn't really too much better today. We let him out in the back this morning and he went over to Ponch's grave and just laid there. When my friend who Zach loves by the way tried to pick him up, Zach snapped at her. Finally he came into the house and went under my bed where he stayed most of the day until he came out for a drink of water, but then he went back under the bed where he's been ever since. I don't know what I can do for him. It's like he's blaming us for taking Ponch away. |
Gosh, this is so sad... hopefully he'll snap out of it soon. Maybe sit with him and have a long talk. (seriously) Maybe if you explain and tell him and show him that you are upset too, maybe would help him. So sorry for your and Zach's loss of Little Ponch. RIP Little One. |
That is soooo sad. Alot of people don't think animals grieve, but they do. I can remember when both of my schnauzers passed away, one in 07 and the other in 09 and the ones left do grieve. They understand more than what we realize. It is heartbreaking. Maybe in a few days your baby will feel better. He is just hurting right now. Someone said to talk to him, I agree. I even pray with mine and they seem to understand. I always pray for them when they are sick. Keep us updated on how he is doing. |
I am so sorry for your loss...and for poor little Zach. Animals most definitely do grieve. It takes them time when they lose a friend. I hope Zach gets back to himself soon. Just give him time. |
So sorry for you and Zach. I feel bad for my Yorkies sometimes becuase they can't understand things like separation when I go on business travel, but instead just look out the window for hours I am told waiting for the pack to get back together. I never knew they could be so attached to another animal (other than another dog or a person). I hope he gets over it soon. |
