How often do you walk your Yorkies? I know they need alot of socialization and interaction with other people... but i was wondering what is a normal amount of times a week all to take out your yorkies to play , outside of the house/yard.. We take Lulu out maybe 4 times a week, and thats to the nearby regional park with trails and alot of other dogs. |
We probably walk a few times a week, but Mojo is out in the yard playing hard everyday. I think if he didn't get to run everyday, he'd literally be bouncing off the walls. :animal37 Now if we could just get it to stop raining here, I'd probably walk him everyday. We play fetch a few times a day and run around with him in the backyard. He's very high energy, but when he gets his exercise, he is extremely well behaved. |
ZoE loves being outside, so I usually take ZoE out pretty much every day. Either for a walk for just to hang out in the yard while I'm weeding and watering or dead-heading flowers. Unfortunately, it's rained here pretty much every day for the past week or two, so we've hardly been out at all. |
My boys can't hang out in our yard because we have too many poisonous/dangerous things, so we walk at least a mile twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. I also take them to the park or on some kind of outing at least once a week. |
Never, I walk and push them in a stroller...once we get to where we are going, they get out, play and expect to be pushed home again... |

I take Paris for a walk/play in our garden 3 or 4 times a day... I just dont let her alone outside because I'm scared of foxes trying to get her. |
We only take Zhoie when we are in the mood for a walk. She goes but there is no excitement, I can tell she's not a big fan of walking. However, we have a large fenced in backyard and we are out running and playing ball/ball everyday (if weather permits). Even then, she's runs hard, plays hard...but when she's done, she wants in or up on the swing. We spend alot of time togerther in our canopy swing. She begs to swing, loves it and I'm good with that :D. |
We live way out in the country on a farm so my guys just get walked here. There are no dog parks within 50 miles to take them to play. We take a walk from our house up our long driveway(about 1 mile) that goes back to the barns every evening if the weather permits. It has been raining so much lately they have only got to go on about 3 or 4 walks in the last couple of weeks. They love their walks and all I have to say is who wants to go for a walk and they both bolt to the door and stand waiting for me to put their harness on them. |
Not very often- a walk is kind of a last resort form of exercise here- it does nothing for mine- they really need to have space to run and play. |
We walk 5 days a week unless it's rainy or something else comes up. Generally speaking it's about 2.5-3 miles per day. Weekends are spent either at my dads house with their dogs and fenced yard and pool, so he does a ton of swimming on the weekends and of course a crapload of running, and we visit the dog park twice a week or so... plus other things that happen on occasion, like visiting pet stores or other family members homes or something. |
Teddy gets walked 3 miles a day every single day. If he doesn't get walked, he starts whining/needs stimulation. Some days he gets walked 4-5 miles. |
I take Molly for a mile walk (45 minutes) everyday. |
3 times a day. It's not so much as walk as it is a go out the pee time. |
Usually at least once a day, sometimes twice. I haven't gone in a walk with her in awhile because of all the rain, and I don't have a backyard (we live in an apartment) so I've just been doing small fetch-games inside. :) |
Once a day for about 15 mins. Mine spend alot of time out in my fenced in back yard though. They love walks and I would probably walk them longer but we are so busy doing things to our back yard this year. They do spend alot of time outside though. |
I take Teddie on a power walk with me once a day. Our neighborhood is hilly so he has a nice little workout as do I. He has three other dogs to play with here though, so he gets plenty of excitement and movement. I don't trust dog parks and the like...heard of too many "accidents" with friends of mine who take theirs out to them. You can trust yourself, but you cannot always trust the other pet owner. |
I rarely let either of my animals contact other Dogs or Humans, save for the Vet and Groomer. But on the exercise... We walk both of them for about a half mile each day, then, drop the little Female off, and then Jog another half mile with the Male. Sort of a figure eight route. There may be a point where the Female can keep up on a Jog, she's still pretty young. Given the high heat and humidity here, we've been having to do it real early in the mornings, or late in the day near dusk. I'd get them both out more, but, we have a rather large back yard, and they are out in it a lot, running, playing and chasing Squirrels and anything else that chances to enter. |
We walk any day that the weather permits, and Dinky comes along. He walks over a mile. He loves, loves the walk. He is especially happy when the wonderful poodle puppy around the corner is out and plays with him. He really needs his walk to burn off energy. I have to throw squeak toys constantly on the days we can't walk. |

We try to go for a small walk every day. Gidget does not like long walks. She's ready to go back in. |
...usually once a day when I'm home from work but she gets to run around in the yard before then...interesting enough, I find she's not that excited to run in the yard but rather wait for her walk;) |
Lucy usually goes for a walk about once a day, in the evenings. Our walks range from a mile to 3 miles if I have the time and the weather permits. Tonight was a 3 miler. Honestly, the walks are more for Ringo. Lucy would prefer a little shorter walk, I think. I carry her a little bit off and on so she doesn't get too tired. Plus it was super hot and humid this evening. BUT, she screams like a banshee if Ringo gets to do something that she's not. SO, she comes with us. I think she would love a shorter walk and more backyard playtime with me throwing the toys. Trying to figure out how to do that; I could drop her off while Ringo and I continue on . . . |
My two get walked at least once a day. They also have a nice big, fenced in backyard... so they have all the running and exploring that they want. We usually also take them on errands every day, so they get out and about and get to see new things daily. They also love the dog park, so we go there once, sometimes twice a week. They also love the school down the street from our house where there is about 5 acres of open grass where they can run until their hearts content. My two would go crazy if they didn't get the stimulation that they do. They love going anwhere and everywhere they can! |
Roxie gets several walks a day. We live in a development that has a nice circular roadway, so we take her around a few times. She is outdoor trained, so she goes out for potty breaks as well. I don't know what is considered "normal", but she scratches at the front door at least 5-7 times a day. I don't know if she has to go potty every time, or if she just wants to go outside, but I don't want to risk her having an accident in the house. |
