Bring poo onto patio furniture With 3 dogs and only a small backyard, I am really good at picking up their poo poo piles as they happen each time they go out. However my girls don't do this between them coming home from school and me coming home from work. When I get home, if I miss something Maddie always ends up finding it and she carries it over and deposits on the patio furniture. Why does she do this???? It is disgusting! And she has no qualms about lying on the end of the settee cushion with poo poo sitting in the middle of the cushion. I believe it is only Maddie because I have caught her with poo in her mouth and she is the one who sits on our settee. Monkey always sits on a chair and Tony stays on the patio. Any suggestions or at least a reason for this? |
I don't know the reason for this happening but I would think training them to stay off the patio furniture altogether would be the best. They're not respecting your furniture so they shouldn't be on it. Sounds harsh but I think it would work. |
Oh my goodness, that's adorable, she's copying you! She notices you pick up the poop, and so when you're gone she picks it up for you and places it in a place where you'll find it. While you can’t train your human girls to do this, Maddie has learned it already, if I were you, I'd thank her, and perhaps you could train her to take it someplace else, but maybe an old towel over the furniture would be enough? |

Interesting thought about training her to make her deposit into a trash can. I have just signed Monkey up for an obedience class trying to get out feet wet for eventual rally participation. I may talk to that trainer to see if she has an idea what might work to retrain Maddie and her OCD behavior about tidiness in her back yard. :) I appreciate this perspective on what I was perceiving as a problem. The thought that she is just trying to help me instead of trying to push my sanity over a cliff is very much appreciated! |
She is just helping you.. what an intelligent girl.. As it was said before.. She could eat it instead.. then you would have a big problem.. |
