Coat Question Hi Yorkie Lovers, Have a question for you. I can't find any literature to answer this. Is it possible for a Yorkie pup to have two different coat types at once? For example, can the golden on the legs, neck, and chest, be "Silky", and incredibly wonderful to touch & radiantly shiny, and the saddle area which is not yet turning bluish, be cottony or "Soft"? And the turning-to-gray on the top of the head in the intermediate stage of lightening up go from cottony/soft to that wonderful silky feel as it turns to gray? |
I would imagine if his coat is in the process of changing but am not sure... have you read this? May help.... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...rt-thread.html |
How old is your baby? I think I tend to see the silky around the face and legs first so maybe it's just the puppy coat growing out that feels cottony on the back? |
they fur change completely until around 1 year old.. but KJC just gave you the right place to look.. :) |
Thanks all. The pup is 18 weeks old. It is the back or the saddle area that seems to be cottony right now and sooooo in contrast to the rest of him. On this area, his skin pigment is dark blue. From what I read that is a good start. It will be interesting to see how he develops. I read that link but didn't see that it addressed the differing textures on one dog. |

But as far as my experience goes... all pups that young appear more 'fluffy' than anything. |
This link is to a thread discussing coats... maybe ... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...iscussion.html And a pic might help too if you could post one or two... |
Thanks all. I will post a pic once I get my Kodak up to speed. Blessings. |
