Ome really bad tornado's and storms. Joplin, MO got hit hard. We were under tornado watches here in the CHicago area last night. Really bad storms. Looks like rain today.

Me too!

I was watching the weather chanel when they arrived on the scene in Joplin...my heart just sank...the damage was shocking.

We were under a tornado watch until midnight...had a couple small storms blow through with marble sized hail that lasted quite a while but nothing too severe.

My prayers are going out to the people of Joplin, MO. today. They are getting hit with another storm as I type.

Prayers are going out to all affected, and also those who are constantly in fear of these storm. Devastation and stress all over the place, and it is soooo sad.

The force of Mother Nature is just shocking sometimes.

We are about 2 hours northeast of Joplin and some of my fellow nurses and a few physicians from my hospital have gone to try to help. The fatality count is now up to 116 and I'm sure will climb higher. Please keep praying for the people of Joplin and their families, this was huge!! I don't know for sure but I've heard from a pretty reliable source that every patient in the ICU was killed - I'm sure the nurses working there were too. These poor people will need lots of time to recover and try to heal. My prayers are with all of them and I hope my fellow healthcare workers can bring some relief to the injured and heartsick people.

That is so sad to hear. Prayers are going to the relief workers who are so traumatized in trying to help also.

I take it the hospital was struck? That is just horrible! We are not hearing anything about it here in PA.

This is so horrible, this has happened in so many states recently, just devastating to watch. My prayers are with all those that have suffered.

The hospital in Joplin took a direct hit. The ICU was on one of the top floors and the tornado even knocked their helicopter off the roof. The hospital had to be evacuated very quickly because of the risk of structural instablity. I heard a report that they evacuated 183 patients in 1 1/2 hours. If you look at CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News you can see many reports about it. Patients were transferred to hospitals in Missouri, Arkansas, & Oklahoma. It has been pretty confusing for families to find their loved ones because they had so many hospitals to check. Area hospitals have been sending teams of critical care nurses to the hospitals who have these patients to provide relief care which is awesome teamwork.

There are Facebook pages and hotlines available to help reunite families and to find friends. There is even a Facebook page dedicated to the pets that are missing/found in the area and for people to donate help for the displaced animals. That is terrible for those poor ppl. I started watching national news channels to get some info. I can't imagine what that hospital staff faced! (or the pts!)

We live about 45 minutes from Joplin and our local news was saying that they are expecting the number of deaths to rise once they can clear through the rubble. They also said that they are expecting to find several once the walls from Wal-Mart can be moved. My mom is friends with people there that are still missing.

There were parents on tv pleading for help in finding their children....my heart goes out to them.

I have some friends here at ft.hood that are going to joplin with blankets, supplies and clothing for the ppl, and are trying to get dog food donated too. We cannot forget our four legged babies and help. there will be two semi trucks in DFW at Billy Bobs to accept any donations. They will be there from noon to midnight on thursday. Any blankets, clothing. water canned food will be taken . we have a convoy going there from FT. Hood, TX. to DFW and then Joplin.
