Does having two male Yorkies create a problem? :animal-pa I have two male 7mo old pups from the same litter. I am going to niter one of them and the other I am undecided on. I am thing about breeding him. He is small and has nice breeding qualities. They get along great now but as they get older will I have problems with them getting along? Does anyone have any input? |
Hmmm...well...males who aren't neutered can def have some issues like marking, going nutty if there is a female in heat nearby, perhaps having more potential for aggression, and running off. I would *really*, really consider what you'd be getting into when it comes to breeding - it usually involves way more than people realize. YT has some great breeding threads in the YT Library - here. :) |
The male you are planning on leaving intact should really be evaluated for his structure etc. Also a good pedigree goes a long way. There is a lot involved to determine if a male especially is worthy to pass on his genes to a next generation. |
Two six month old brothers Yorkies. Both will be Neutered at the right time. They get along great. |

I would get them both neutered and have 2 happy relaxed dogs, rather than have one with raging hormones. |

My one male came from a shelter because he got lost. The person that found him running down the road tried to find his owner and then took him to a shelter. They had him till I took him...... but it was a kill shelter and he only had 2 days to go. The shelter had him neutered and now he is a happy boy, plays in the back yard with my other male and female yorkie. Just to let you know that when they want to get out they will. And so many endings are not as happy as mine. |
It rarely works keeping one in tact and the other not....when you have wonderful pets and your enjoy a peaceful home life..why rock the boat...neuter them both...once a male becomes a stud, he is a "working" male and will take his job seriously..neutered males are so loving and devote all that love to their owner. |
I have 2 males that are brothers and they are both Neutered, they still have their sibling squabbles. I did have an unneutered male that I was showing here for awhile but there were issues, more fights starting and believe it or not my Neutered males started Marking, and the unneutered male was only a pup so I am sure it would have been alot worse as he got older. |
My two cents...I would get both nuetered as the others suggested, I think this would make them better pets. JMO of course. Also I wouldnt dare get into breeding, I couldnt even imagine how much work that would be! |
I have two tiny males, BOTH neutered and they get along wonderfully, the best of friends. |
Both of my boys are neutered and it makes life so much easier. I will tell you though that they BOTH lose thier minds when an UNneutered male comes into their "area." I would say get them both fixed to avoid potential problems later on. |
