Tila tried to chase a rabbit a couple weeks ago. It was a wild rabbit and it ran into a yard and hid. Tila really wanted that rabbit. What a great memory she has, we've walked by that same spot a couple times since then and each time she's looked for that rabbit. No yorkie or rabbit's were harmed in that encounter. |
Maggie does this constantly. She goes after birds, bunnies, frogs, turtles and ducks. One time when hubby took her out to his garage to potty, there was a baby bunny by the stairs by the the door, another time there was a frog. Now everytime we take her out there, she will run under the stairs as soon as she goes out there. lol She's gotten loose out door and went to where a bird had nested in my flower bed and near got the bird! One day she is going to get one. Ugh! |
We have rabbits in our yard and my three hunt them all the time. They have even caught them in the past. :( Now when they are let into the yard they need to sit stay before going out to give the bunnies a head start to get out. Are you sure the rabbit that you saw doesn't have a nest where you are walking? |
lol, madddie chased a cat up a tree and for weeks after she did it, every time she went past that tree shed rear up on it and look to see if kitty still in tree. |
I have to keep Leyla on lead at the dock. She wants to chase the herons and play with the dock cats. She gets pretty interested in the fish we catch every once in a while, especially the big ones. |
Maybe they do have a nest around there somewhere. I'm thinking if they do it's on the other side of the street in the brush area. |
Mojo tries to chase rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, etc. Funny story, when I was growing up, my mother had this little 4lb chihuahua. Not only would the chihuahua chase rabbits, but I swear, the rabbits would chase her back! They were somehow playing together- it was the craziest thing I'd ever seen! |
Jackson is a rabbit hunter... rabbits always end up in my dads fenced in yard and the 3 dogs always chase them off. lol. Squirrels and any other fast moving small animal is a game of chase for him. He actually has caught 2 birds now that got stuck in our screened in porch. Crazy dog. |
Princess treed a squirrel when she was maybe 5-6 months old while we were out on a potty trip. The squirrel climbed just out of reach then of course turned around to look at her & wag his tail. For about a week after she kept asking to go outside, I was so excited, thinking we were really getting this potty thing down...WRONG!!! She would just drag me to the same tree & examine it in amazement as it was now empty. I could never deny her going out because I never knew if she really had to go or not.....luckily she learned pretty quick that he wasn't waiting for her. |
Those Squirrels are such "cheeky" little guys, and know that Yorkies aren't known for their speed. Most of the ones around here, will see one of mine running toward it, wait until it's a couple feet away, then take off at a right angle to the charge, and be up a tree WELL before one of mine can even get close. |
I have had a cheeky little rabbit. When Cricket was still w me, we had a rabbit who would lie on the sidewalk in front of the house in view of my yorkie, who was sitting in the living room watching out the window. My Cricket would bark and bark, and that darn rabbit would just lie there in the sun and taunt her! |
This would be the very reason why I would go bullistic when they would use it in the house. They have a great memory about stuff THEY want to focus on, but when it came to important things they would FORGET. LOL |

I'm the last person who should be telling someone how to handle his dog,.. But, so many let their dog's hair grow floor length, dress them up daily, bathe and perfume them. WOW, what a life ! However, I can't help but think there's a lot of very bored Yorkes out there. :D |

But just because someone doesnt shave their dog and let them be dirty doesn't mean they are bored. One of my dogs has long hair, both of them wear clothes, they go to the groomer often and get bathed weekly, they have more than any dog could ever want or need. Yet they still go to the dog park, go on outings, travel with me (they have seen more of the world then some people), go for walks in new places, etc. etc. Trust me they are not bored. I love this idea that some people have- that because dogs are "pampered" they are bored- but many of these same people have dogs whose outdoor time consists of the backyard of maybe a walk in the neighborhood- trust me that is way more boring to a dog. |
