tikka gave me my first heart attack! first off, THANK GOD tikka is not a 3lb fragile yorkie. although 8.5lbs isn't too sturdy... it's sturdier! i went to the bathroom to get an eyelash out of my eye... literally a 30 second project lol. i walked out of my bathroom and Tikka was sitting in my window seal! i had left my chair pushed out, and she had managed to go from chair, to the table, and somehow to the window! at least 4feet from out kitchen floor! out of shock and in a rush of panicky feelings, i was like "ahhhh tikka NO!" and she jumped. not onto the table, not onto the chair, all the way to the floor landing on her feet! i swear she flew like four feet out from her four foot perch! i screamed lol, i'm sure any neighbors that are home heard me as my windows are all open. she came running up to me, on the way grabbed her tuggie toy and tail wagging a hundred miles a minute... no harm done. i checked her over anyways, but boy, not to be gross but I definitely about pooped my pants when i saw her leap! one reason i'm so glad she's bigger than i had originally wanted/expected! i'm still a little shaky, but i will NEVER leave my chair pushed out again. she's like a cat! |
My Chloe is only 5 pounds and she is the same way- she is always on top of something, she is basically like a little monkey. She gets on the windowsills in the kitchen and even on the kitchen table! |
Geez....I can only imagine how your heart stopped....I would have screamed too! So glad sweet Tikka is alright. They see no fear, ;) |
lol thanks, i'm glad she's okay too haha i swear she was sitting there smiling and just waiting for me to come out so she could show me she can jump off! |
Gosh I would have had a heart attack too!! I am glad my two aren't climbers, my poor heart couldn't take it. Glad Tikka is ok and it sounds like she was rather proud of herself:D |
Wow, and I thought my 12 week old was part cat and part monkey. She hasn't started getting onto furniture yet but now I know she will probably try it. She tries everything I didn't know a puppy was capable of and I can't help but laugh at her. She brings me much joy, happiness and lots of cuddling. :D Who can't love a Yorkie :aimeeyork, She's my first one. Thanks for the post ! |
Come to think about it. Cupcake was on the floor tugging on a rope toy I was hanging onto while I was on the computer 2 days ago. I noticed she was up to my hand at least 3 or 4 feet off the floor. So I got her down and when I looked again, she was actually using her front legs to climb the rope by circleling it around her leg and climbing like an acrabat in a circus. Oh No, there will be no stopping at anything as she grows. My smart little Cupcake :animal-pa is going to give me a heart attack. Thank goodness for YT so I can keep up with what she will do in a "dare you" situation. |
I call Gizmo the "mountain goat" because he has to be at the highest spot at all times. I think it's the Napoleon complex shining through, trying to be bigger than he is! Glad your baby is okay!! |
What a crazy girl! Glad to hear everything was fine. |

Oh, gosh, how scared you must have been seeing her that high up! I am so glad the big jump didn't hurt her. She reminds me of my Tibbe - he's got no judgment and does not think that gravity applies to him. You literally have to watch them every moment to be sure they aren't into anything! I think they are worse than children about getting into scary messes! Glad she is okay. |
Glad she is ok!! WhenLouie was about 9 months I was baking, I turned around, and their was Louie sitting in the fruit bowl on the kitchen table, I panicked and shouted stay and ran to pick him up. He did not know the command stay that well but he stayed till I picked him up. I think I scared him so he stayed. From then on, I moved the chairs away from the table. I think most are little monkeys or just to brave for ther own good. We also call Louie a mountain lion:) |
Glad she's just fine. Now go get her some stairs so she can look out the window!:) |
Do you think they're trying to compensate for their small size?:p LOL Barkley has to climb on everything, too. He even likes to sleep on a huge pile of pillows! (I have a bunch, stacked in my room) |
Yeah she was sitting in the window when I saw her she had no intentions of jumping until I looked her straight on, then I watch almost like it was in slow motion as she flew through the air. I kid you now she flew! She ended up half way across the kitchen! A good 4 feet from the window seal. Apparently she misunderstood and thought i said "tikka JUMP!" instead of "NO!" haha Usually if she bolts out the door into the hallway of our building I yell "TIKKA NO!" in a stern voice and she stops immediately and sulks head down back inside... hmmm. Hahah I love reading your guys' stories too, they are just so funny! Can't believe the confidence in such a little package. |
