Very scary scare This evening was time for heartworm medicine so I put Scooter's in a piece of chicken and Bitsy's in a piece of cheese. Scooter scarfed his down immediately but Bitsy spit hers out and before I could grab him Scooter ate her pill too. Since Bitsy weighs 3 times what Scooter weighs, her pill is obviously stronger so I went into major panic mode. I called the vet immediately and she said that there are safeguards on those pills so that Scooter really wasn't in any danger. I was really scared when I saw him grab that other pill. I had visions of rushing him to the emergency clinic and having his tummy pumped. Lesson learned. Don't let the two dogs have their pills together. |
glad its all okay that would scare me also |
Glad he is ok. I have had a couple of scares where one of mine has gotten the others medicine (not heart worm) and I have given them hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting per my vets instructions. It's good to have hp on hand for emergencies. It's good to know their are safeguards on the heart worm medicine, |
Tell Scooter not to scare his mommy like that. :) I separate my boys at pill time until I am sure they have swallowed their meds. Often I hold Teddy on the counter because he doesn't like pills. |
