Update on Daisy Ok so after a looong night of her scratching like crazy, we went to the vet this am. She thinks she was allergic to the flea bites, and she probably has some seasonal allergy type thing going on, making her skin dry. So she gave her a steroid shot to help with the itching....should last her 3-4 weeks. By that time, most of the stuff in the air now will be gone for the season. Then she gave me ear drops to do daily..had been scratching her ears alot. She also gave me a good moisturizing shampoo to use, and then a spray to use in between to help with any itching if there is any. I need to go buy a flea comb as well..but she didn't have much residual left on her. She said that her teeth were probably keeping her from eating much hard food..so I need to put her on a good wet food, and try and water down her dry..also will pick up some nutrical. So..thats where we are at. Will give her her bath shortly..and we'll see how we do!! |
When I read your post about the fleas I was afraid that would happen. My dog had one flea on him and chewed a raw area on him. The vet said it was allergies to fleaas and he is seeing alot of dogs for allergies right now. Chachi got a shot , antibiotics and the spray meds. |
well, i am glad that she is ok!! :D |
Flea bites.... I used to have a LARGE dog that was alerigic to flea bites too! The vet put him on Predneslone (sp). His was so bad that all the hair on his tail and about 1/2 of his back would fall off. He looked like he had the worst case of mange you're ever seen. I felt so bad for him. The meds helped tremendously!! Only draw back was that (at the time) steriods shortened the lifespan of animals. That was about 20 years ago, so I don't know if they've been improved or not. I sure hope so. Might want to ask your vet. Just a thought. Suz |
