Heartbroken I was looking forward to bringing my baby home in about a month, but all of a sudden all 5 puppies in the litter died:( When I talked to the breeders as of yesterday they did not know the cause. I am so heartbroken, it took me forever to find someone I trusted to get a yorkie from and now I have to start my search all over. I am getting VERY discouraged that I will ever find me a baby. I am getting desperate to the point of thinking about buying one online even though I really want to avoid that if at all possible! Did anyone else have such a hard time finding their baby:confused: |
I'm sorry to hear about your puppy :( however, I would NOT buy a puppy online! Have you checked into your local shelter, rescues or rehomes? |
I could only find a couple in the shelters in my area and they were all special needs yorkies. As a first time yorkie owner I do not want to take on a special needs dog, I am not sure I could give it the proper care required. There are not a whole lot of yorkie breeders in my area and alot of them that I checked out were breeding other dogs too, chihuahuas, maltese, yorkie poo's etc. It makes me wary when they breed so many different types of dogs. |
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your little one. In addition to looking at rescues, you might want to look at Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's website (ytca.org). They are an organization of reputable breeders. They have a breeder referral page on the web site to help you get in touch with reputable breeders in your state/area. |

Thanks for the link, I guess I will start emailing and see if any of them have pups available. I am getting very impatient:) |
I'm sorry to hear about your puppy :( ytca.org is a great place to start! There is also a section on this forum for "yorkies for sale/wanted" maybe you could post a thread there? |
Don't let you lack of patients take control. It really is better to wait for the right breeder. Have you seen our sick and injured forum? It's full of stories of people who purchased their babies from the pet store or online only to find heartache and lots of vet bills. Puppies purchased online can and have been special needs pups. I'm so sorry to hear you lost your little one. Go through the YTCA referral. If that breeder doesn't have anything available, hey might know another that might. Just remember to screen the breeders carefully. |
I have definitely been screening breeders very carefully...which is probably why I don't have a puppy yet:p Maybe I am to picky:confused: I have been looking since Christmas. I never thought it would be so hard to find one. I just sent a few emails to some of the breeders listed on the YTCA site, keeping my fingers crossed that they have some puppies!! |
That's nothing! I waited 2 years before I got Kaji. I could have waited a little more, but I got inpatient and bought him online. It wasn't the best decision I ever made. We're both very happy together, but he has physical and behavioral issues. He's been wih me for 2 years, and he's gotten better but we're not past some of the issues. It's better to wait and be super picky, the breeder will be picky too! ;) |
Wow, 2 years! I don't think I could wait that long, I would go crazy:D Having to start my search over again is just frustrating, but I guess I will be all the more excited when I finally get a baby to bring home! |
I am so sorry for your disappointment and frustration. I came to this site because I had lost a very loved dog and didn know anything about yorkies. While learning alot that I did not know about dogs in general and especially yorkies I was blessed and found my new little friend here on YT. I also made a wonderful friend of the member that I purchased my baby from. I wish you good luck. Try not to get impatient. |
