litter bo or potty pads Hello everyone, I am trying to train my sweet kiki to potty in the litter box. She is doing ok but at least 1-2 times a day she has a potty accident. She does poo poo in her box and no accidents with that. I was just wondering if potty pads may be better. I would do full on outside training but we live in colorado and im afraid that in the winter it will be to hard |
I tried the litter box approach when we first got my now 2 1/2 year old Bevo....He just never did well, so we switched to potty pads...IMO, much easier to train AND clean up!! We also have the "patch of grass thing"...He poos on it, but our little one (11 weeks) prefers to go there all the time...would NOT suggest those, because they are not fun to clean!!! Good Luck!! |
I would think the litter box would get really messy quick, wouldn't it? Litter sticks to my cats feet and he has med/short hair, and the litter winds up all over the place. Not sure if doggy litter is any different but I prefer the pads, quick and easy clean-up. Plus you can get a few of the washable kind so you never run out and they're super easy to clean, just toss in the washer :) good luck, no one here frowns on you for doing a dual training method. I have and it's paid off big time! |
We used litter (wood/paper) pellets for 8 years and like it. Teddy would not adapt, so I tried washables and started my own company. I think either option is great both have advantages/disadvantages. |
I use the pads - no experience with a dog litter box, but I clean up enough litter having 2 cats, so that's enough of that for me lol. The pads are really easy - I just pick up any poop with tp and flush it, then toss the pad when it's dirty and replace. Some people like the washable ones too. If you are going to use the disposable pads - i'd recommend getting a holder too, Alice for whatever reason, always seems to want to go right on the edge or sometimes misses completely and goes right next to it:rolleyes: - so i'm definatly getting a pad holder this week - it sort of turns it into a little "box" but with less mess:D |
I didnt have any luck with the litter box |
Tessa is potty pad trained but I got tired pf paying the high prices for it so now she is a paper trained yorkie...I get to read it first and then she gets to read it...;) |
