"Muffin" This is very sad guys..prayers needed
 

My best friend, Heather who is a yorkie and yorkie/poo breeder had a little precious girl weighing a little over 3 lbs. that she bred and refused to sale due to her size. She wanted to make sure she never ended up in the wrong hands due to her size. Heather and her husband Steve along with myself adored "Muffin". She was an extrordianary little yorkie. She passed away today for no known reason. She was let out (into a large fenced in area well supervised, where she went each day to do her potty.) My friend found her dead today after being out for a short period of time. No explanation to her death. I have known Heather since we were 12 yrs. old. (we are both about to turn the big 35 next month) Heather is a wonderful breeder and caring person who goes above and beyond to take care of her babies. Muffin was such a special little baby, she attended the North Carolina's prettiest pet pageant with me and my babies Prince and Bridgit and little Muffin won in 2 catergories. She won grand supreme in the photo contest and also runner up in over all puppy. I am just in shock here and I dont know what to do for my friend to ease her pain. I am sorry to hear about Muffin. Are they going to have an autopsy done on her to find out what happened. Please keep us informed. She was an extremely cute little yorkie.

they have had to do the unthinkable, and place that baby in a freezor until tomorrow morn first thing when they have an appt with their vet for an autopsy. They plan to have a burial for her after the results.

I am so sorry to hear such sad sad news.....it is so scary when you don't know what happened too...it can happen to anyone.

My parents had a teacup poodle named Muffin who died of old age a few years back and she was their baby. They have never gotten another dog and they are dog people. They miss her so much.

Muffin.....may you rest in peace.

How sad and I am so sorry for your friend. It breaks your heart to lose these little ones. I lost my Muffin 2 months ago and I still see him in the house.

I am sorry to hear this. I can't imagine. The unthinkable can happen to any one on any give day, I guess. I sincerly hope your friend is able to cope with this.

Oh wow - I'm so sorry for your friend...Muffin sounded like such a sweetheart and is very pretty in her picures.....please tell your friend she has my condolences....It's been a sad week for our yorkies ...

That's so sad to find her little yorkie like that. I know how heartbroken she must be. Tell her we are thinking of her and tell her how cute we think little Muffin was. :(

thanks everyone for all your kind words. the update today is that they believe she choked on something. i will know more later in the day. it's so nice to have all of you here with your thoughts and prayers. my little guy prince is muffin's brother and i feel so bad for my friend when she sees prince next time. she will be so reminded of her girl as they both look alot alike and are small yorkies. when i lost my little guy dru in april of this yr, i felt like the world was coming to an end. so i know first hand what it feels like. i am still not over my dru being gone and i know it's going to take a long time for my friend and also the other yt members who have lost their babies recently. i'm so thankful to have this place to lean on others who know exactly what we all go through. i am not just "some breeder" out there. I love yorkies very passionately. My dru was not even a part of my breed program just like muffin was not a part of my friend's. we love all of our dogs individually whether they are used for breeding or not. if i weren't a breeder, i would still own several yorkies regardless. so again, thanks everyone.

So sorry to hear this news :( I never thought about the fact that they could choke on something while outside playing. Mine pick up sticks and wood chips all the time in the back yard.

How very sad about Muffin. And to think of actually having to place your beloved little puppy in a freezer would be so unthinkably hard. She must be so grief stricken. My heart truly goes out to her...and to you, I am sure this is very hard for you also....loosing Muffin and seeing your dear friend suffer so much. My condolences go out to both of you and her husband.

I am so sorry for you and your friend. Things like this leave us wondering for a long long time.....takes a long time to heal.
One suggestion......IF your friend wants to do a necropsy....she should NOT freeze the baby.....she should wrap her in a towel and place her in the refrigator. The vet cannot do a necropsy on a frozen body. Again I'm so sorry for your loss.
