Bella lost weight! I just had Bella spayed, and her puppy teeth pulled today. When They went to weigh her, she was 5.5 pounds... Last month when I got her final puppy shots she was 5.8 pounds. She didnt eat after 6 pm and had to skip breakfast because of her surgery, but I didnt think missing 1 meal would effect her weight that much. I havent changed her diet and she still eats the same amount as usual. Her vet didnt say anything about her weight loss. Is this normal? She is 6 months old right now. |
I would not worry too much just yet. Many factors determine the fluctuation of weight. Time of day, bladder contents, different scale etc. Just monitor her P.S. Do you mean 5lbs 8 ounces or 5.8lbs. I keep seeing over and over on this site people post for example 4.3lbs but really mean 4lbs 3 ounces. Confuses me all the time lol |

P.S. That always confuses me too, I know that: There's 16 oz. in a pound and 1 oz. = 0.0625 pounds Sooo - 1.5 pounds is actually 1 pound, 8 ounces. Not much of a difference, but still confusing LOL, this is why other countries stick with the metric system lol. |
did the vet weigh her on the same scale? When I first had remy she lost weight between visits when I was taking her in for shots... I asked how could that be?? The vet checked the records and then took her into the other room and sure enough she had gained an ounce... He said there could be a few ounce difference per scale.. and with a biger dog it really would not matter or even be noticable (like my Bailey -- he weights 26 lbs:eek: 2 or 3 ounces would not make a difference) |
I wouldn't worry at all. That isn't much of a difference, especially given that there was no food or water. :) |
My vet has a digital scale that fluctuates with movement. Six months ago the person weighing her put down an incorrect weight. When I mentioned it couldn't accurate she was in a hurry and ignored me. If Sophie is jumping up and down on the scale (to say hi to the vet tech) it shows varying weights and it's hard to pin down the correct wight. If she is sitting still as in her last visit (which I managed to train her to do now:rolleyes:) she weighed 4.5 lbs. |
